Food in restaurant was very good. Room we had was shabby (not shabby chic) and badly in need of upgrading. It was very noisy and when we voiced all our concerns to staff we were told: Don’t use Expedia when you book”.

Nice hotel close to our whale watching trip. They were very accomodating when we asked to switch to a room on the ground floor. Food at restaurant was excellent, especially the breakfast frittata and homemade toast!

Horrible! I stayed here 25 yrs ago and I felt like time stood still. There have been no upgrades at all. The only thing they did was remove TVs from the rooms. What a joke! $138 plus tax for an uncomfortable small room with no TV. Limited food on the island and they don’t even have microwaves in the rooms. We won’t be back!

Great location with a beautiful view. Good restaurant on site although a little pricey for what you get. The basic rooms are dated; no air conditioning; no tv (these are noted on the website). Cleanliness of the rooms was not great (hairs found in bathroom for example). Overall fine for the one night we stayed and obviously there are limited options on the island and overall it was just fine!

My family and I had a great time on the island and at the lodge. The owner of the lodge was VERY hospitable towards us, and allowed for us to show up a little late in the night since our flight was very late. Marcus and Catherine in the kitchen were fantastic too. They gave us some great suggestions for restaurants to visit on our trip to NS. Really nice folks. Had some really nice chats with them. We’ll be back!!

The room we got was on the small side which is okay but there was a musky smell to it. It was like a cottage type feel. There was no microwave and no a/c.

Lovely spot, with really charming rooms. Everything is clean but a bit dated. The outside decks with direct access are wonderful. The restaurant is amazing with homemade desserts, bread, and the best sausage patty I have ever eaten! The only drawback is no air conditioning and if you want it (which I didn't) - TV.

The staff were very friendly and it was a restful visit. There was a renovated section and an older section. In the older rooms, there was no AC, balcony, TV, or coffee cups. The room was quite dark so a lamp was requested, which was provided. I would probably book a newer room if going back. The meals in the restaurant were all delicious.

Terrible room, carpet is gross, room was gross, bed was gross but the bugs seemed to like the place. The room smelt like some cheap brothel because of what ever they used to cover the smell of the dirty disgusting carpet. Dust on the baseboards was a 1/8 inch thick, hadn't been clean in months. Hot water was warm at best.

We had a wonderful stay. Though the dining room was not opening to the public until the next evening, the chef was on site; and, chose to provide us with a terrific meal...best fish cakes ever (and, we live in the Maritimes...so have had lots). Lodge has been redone with new flooring, balconies on the ocean and more....very very nice....

The room and bathroom were clear. There was almost no lighting in the room ( not enough to read). The shower head needed replacing and the shower water temp fluctuated wildly.

Staff is absolutely excellent!! Unfortunately our bathroom was dirty at check in. But we didn’t complain. Other than that it was clean. The rooms are very old and the bottom floor room we had, had a unpleasant smell. But over all it’s a middle of the road clean spot.

You are on a small island so you know this is no fancy 5 star hotel! Saying that, it wasn’t bad at all and they are even doing updates to their building! If you are going whale watching on the island or wanting to just explore the island, this is the place to stay. Nice staff, clean room, lovely views and a short drive to everywhere LOL

The dinner menu is not very robust. Though my soup and entree were very good, I would have loved a salad option, even as a side. My sister, who prefers basic meals and doesn’t eat seafood had very little choice Considering the meal prices, to have table cloths and actual placed cutlery would be nice, versus wood tables and cutlery roll ups. For water drinkers, maybe leave a nice pitcher for self service. Shower water pressure is good, but the sudden switch from hot to cold is surprising. The welcome note with beach rocks is a nice touch.
