The New Hobbit Hotel

"Not easy to find!"
We stayed for one night at the New Hobbit. Getting there was an adventure. The first time we were coming from Manchester and had no real difficulty other than the rather narrow roads ( we're ex-pats so this wasn't new for us), but then we went out for lunch at Ogden. The GPS ( Sat Nav) decided to take us back by what it thought was the most direct route. That may be fine if you are driving a 4x4 or are on a motor cycle but our rental car was never going to make it up the extremely steep, very narrow lanes. A very helpful local had posted a sign that basically said the road is not passable so don't try it... We did find our way back eventually. The hotel is pleasant enough, our room was large and the bed was comfortable. We would have liked a sofa or a couple of easy chairs ( there was plenty of space for them) but there was no additional seating in the room so had to sit on the bed to watch TV. Not the end of the world but we would have been more comfortable had there been proper seating. Breakfast was okay, limited choice of cold cereals and no fruit on offer. The cooked breakfast was served very hot. We've had better, we've had worse. By the way, this is not a J R R Tolkein themed place. The name may put some people off ( and encourage others), it's just a pretty normal pub/bed & breakfast establishment.

"One night stay"
Suite excellent: spacious with all mod cons (if required - we didn't need then for our stay). Bed v comfy. If you stay Mon-Wed then there is the nice bonus of the social hour in the bar/residents area between 6.30 and 7.30 - free wine/beer/soft drinks and nibbles/crudites/cheese and biscuits. Staff are v friendly without being intrusive. I've already booked my next stay.

"Convenient place to stay "
We were quite disappointed with the size of our room the bathroom was very dated there was a chunk missing from the rim of the bath no plug and the shower was a trickle. The cooked breakfast wasn't very nice maybe a refurb would improve some parts of the hotel

"Lovely hotel with great views "
We had a great stay at wood hall for our 1st anniversary. Gorgeous grounds, great breakfast and friendly staff. The restaurant dinner was also great. Only one negative which was thin walls! We had a lovely evening listening to love making guests next door! Overall a great place and would definitely stay again.

Moyles Signature B&B

6 - 10 New Road, Hebden Bridge - Map
"Excellent base for short visit to Hebden Bridge."
Rather unusual reception arrangement, in that you are sent a doorcode and let yourself in, helping yourself to your room key. All done without contact with a real person until breakfast! Then we found two young ladies serving breakfast, which turned out to be excellent! Not your usual 'full English' but a selection of unusual items, like 'crushed avocado and tomato on toast' etc. Really delicious! A very comfortable room overlooking the canal wharf.

"Everything was fantastic!"
We arrived late around 9.30 and were welcomed with open arms! Breakfast was splendid with lots of choice and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts! We were even offered a lift to the wedding we were visiting for, and given lots of tips for what to see and where to go whilst we explored Yorkshire. Haworth was nice, so too were York and Harrogate and Hebden bridge all were easily accessible via car. The room was great, shower was powerful and bathroom large enough. No complaints at all! Our tea and coffee in the room was filled once we used it and the hosts were very attentive. Best bits- comfy bed, powerful shower, big coffee cups and mega breakie, good location. Worst bits- none!!! Well stay again if we ever come back to Yorkshire!
