The kids had a blast running around the wide open fields, hanging out in the gazebo, and playing at the river's edge. It was too cold to go into the river, but that didn't dampen their fun at all! The adults enjoyed hanging out on the expansive deck watching the kids run around and playing games without having to worry about the kids. We hung two camping hammocks in the patch of trees beside the house and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The tree at at the edge of the woods is a PERFECT climbing tree...it's a pine tree, so there is sap, but it's a lot of fun to climb and worth the stickiness! Adults and kids alike enjoyed our night at the fire pit roasting hot dogs and s'mores and playing Kuub (a yard game). We didn't really need to leave the house because there was so much to enjoy on the property, but we did go to West Jefferson (just a 10min drive) to check out Ashe County Cheese and pick up some goodies...that was fun! On our way out of town at the end of our stay, we stopped by Mount Jefferson for a hike...if you're not the hiking type, you can drive to the beautiful overlooks! This was one of the best weekend vacations we have had and that is largely because of this property! ❤️ Can't wait to come back! ##### Laura A.
