Taino's beautiful tropical grounds & unique decor have been lovingly created & nurtured by its artistic owners. Unusual & interesting artefacts adorn every curve & corner of this elegant villa, but the sweeping ocean views really do steal the show. Taino has a real air of calm & tranquility but is still within 2miles of 2 of our favourite beaches (& their handful of laid-back beach bars & beachfront restaurants). Remember to follow our socials @villasoftortola for all things BVI! While it has a tasteful Caribbean flair, Villa Taino also has a sumptuous comfort thanks to the beautiful, rich, wood furniture, and bold use of colour in the furnishings. The fact that Villa Taino has many repeat guests who are drawn back year after year is a testament to the comfort, the ambiance and of course the service that you'll experience here! LIVING AREAS: The living areas are large, comfortable open spaces that flow into each other, making for an easy-going atmosphere whether you are friends or a family holidaying together. It's commanding position on a ridge means that Villa Taino is able to take advantage of the trade winds that wrap around the hillside. The main living area is on the porch next to the pool, covered by a high, circular roof and open to the stunning ocean views on the sides. You'll find sumptuously cushioned oversize furniture and various seating arrangements for kicking back and enjoying the breezes. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you'll need for self catering and a large opening in the wall through to the dining room makes preparing dinner easy and enjoyable. Off the dining room is an alfresco dining porch with a teak table and a Weber gas grill for grilling up some local lobster and enjoying with an ocean view. Also accessed from the dining room is the library, housing the TV and a collection of games. BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS: 1) In a separate wooden pavilion off the pool deck is the Master Suite. It's a large airy screened-in room with more breathtaking views - you won't even have to move from your king size four poster bed to see them! You'll also have a private porch with ocean views which is surely your new morning coffee spot. 2&3) Winding stairs from the hallway lead to the two stylish and eclectically decorated bedrooms with queen beds. Both have large en-suite bathrooms. All bedrooms have screened windows. STEP OUTSIDE: Surrounded by tropical palms, you'll enter your very own private paradise through a large wooden gate that opens onto the stunning pool and deck. This area just begs for you to relax enjoy a good book and a cocktail, while admiring the elegant sailing yachts or sleek power boats out on the ocean in front of you. There are plenty of comfy loungers for catching some rays, and your crystal swimming pool feels as if it reaches right out into the ocean beyond. It's a very magical spot. NOTE AC: There is AC in all bedrooms & ceiling fans throughout WIFI: There is Wifi HOUSEKEEPING: is once every 5-7 days. All linen and towels will be changed and a general cleaning will be done. Daily housecleaning can be arranged at your own expense. PARKING: There is driveway parking - no long slog with grocery bags or suitcases! NEARBY Taino is located in the hills of the exclusive but welcoming rural estate of Belmont in the West End of Tortola. You can drive to two beautiful beaches (Smuggler’s Cove and Long Bay) in under 10 mins. Belmont Salt Pond below is a natural reserve and important ecosystem that regularly attracts flamingos (there are 8 there this week as I write this). LONG BAY (0.7 miles away) At Long Bay you’ll find a mile-long stretch of white sand and turquoise waters and a selection of beachfront refreshment options - 1748 Restaurant, Tropical Fusion, Johnny’s Beach Bar and 1748 Coffee Shop. If you’re feeling energetic there’s Long Bay Beach Resort’s Tennis and Pickleball courts. A day pass will buy you hours of fun! Gym passes also available as well as a spa for a little pampering. You can also purchase a pool pass for the day ($100 pp incl $75 food & beverage credit & access to the pool. Under 12's are free) APPLE BAY (1.2 miles away) A little village with world-class winter surf and a handful of bars and restaurants (Nardie's Beach Bar, Sugar Mill, Tramonti) for all occasions. SMUGGLER’S COVE (1.4 miles away) Smuggler’s Cove is idyllic and perfectly sheltered by its vibrant reef which provides sensational snorkelling and is home to Patricia’s laid-back beach bar. \*cruise ship passengers sometimes come here so look online for the "BVI cruise ship schedule" to avoid the busier days. CARROT BAY (2 miles away) A charming village where you'll find local fisherman, fruit stalls, North Shore Shell Museum and D’Coal Pot restaurant. WINDY HILL (3 miles away) Head to Stoutts Lookout for a chilled beer with an incredible view over the bay or Banakeet (Heritage Inn) restaurant for one of the best dinner spots to watch the sunset on island. SOPER’S HOLE MARINA (3.5 miles away) Here you’ll find West End Ferry Terminal (where you can catch boats to fellow British Virgin Island Jost Van Dyke and US Virgin Islands St John and St Thomas) and a great selection of restaurants (Omar's Coffee House, Omar's Fusion & Pusser's Landing), a well-stocked grocery store, boat charter companies, shops and more. CANE GARDEN BAY (4.2 miles away) The buzziest beach on island, you'll find a whole variety of Restaurants and Bars (Indigo Beach House, Elms, Paradise Bar, Myett's plus many more) lining the water. I’m not sure if this is their standard for VRBO but it was outstanding. She also was able to help us with a grocery order. I loved the pool overlooking the water. It was the perfect place to really experience BVI. My only suggestion would be to rent a vehicle. No worries there, Taino (and Tortola) exceeded our already high expectations. It was a perfect size for our group, with lots of room for everyone (4 adults and two grandchildren under ten). We especially liked the large curving open-air seating area where wet bathing suits were not a problem and everywhere you looked were beautiful vistas. Air conditioners and fans in the bedroom were a plus. We felt prepared because Sam and Sharlene responded to our many questions before our visit. They also provided excellent pre-arrival information, including a site to have our grocery order delivered when we arrived. In addition, we were able to take advantage of unopened, non-perishable items other guests had left. Every staff member we met, including the cleaning team that came mid-week, made us feel welcome. Unexpectedly we had a small plumbing issue which was taken care of within a couple hours, the best response time we have experienced in renting through VRBO. We were glad that Jerry delivered our rental car the next day so we could get acclimated. Be prepared to drive on the left side. We also would recommend reading the Welcome Notebook upon arrival… lots of helpful information and recommendations of what to do. We loved staying at Taino, a perfect time to miss the minus 2-degree weather at home. ##### Sue D. The view is truly amazing. The kitchen is well stocked and very usable. Nice inside-outside living space. All 3 rooms are excellent, with 2 of the 3 a small step above the third room. A car is strongly advised, but the road is definitely not for beginners and is more challenging when wet. Four wheel drive would be helpful, but we had an awd Kia Sorento that did the job. The more you drive it, the easier it gets. The location is great if you like access to Smuggler's cove and Long Bay. Frenchman's Cay is also not too far away via car. Highly recommended villa. The views from the photos did not lie one bit. Each morning waking up to a crystal clear view of Jost was great. We also we able to enjoy a few spectacular sunsets as well. The property managers were very easy to communicate with and provided any infromation that was requested. Most of the common areas are open air rooms, so you will need bug spray. This was not an issue for us, but felt it was worth noting. Everything in the house was kept very clean and in good working order. The bedrooms were nicely sized and had very good working AC units in each. THE POOL... Amazing!!! Well kept and the lighting in the evening made it really pop. Smugglers Cove/Lower Belmont Bay is a very short drive and was our favorite beach on the island (calm water and sandy). The property itself is nice, the bedrooms have good A/C. Wifi works great. Good outdoor furniture for lounging. There is also a super nice view from the pool and its a great place to watch the sunset. Having a washer/dryer on premise is very nice as well. Towels were available. All the cooking amenities were there including an outdoor grill/stove/coffee maker/blender/microwave/dishwasher/etc. We did a lot of cooking and they had the very basics like salt/pepper but do pack in any seasonings/oil you may need. You will want a car with good clearance and 4WD is probably a good idea. Overall a great property and I would recommend it! ##### James C. The views are amazing and the infinity pool is large and a nice respite from the heat. The house sits at an elevation of 525 feet above Long Bay Beach and only God has a better view, which can only be described as panoramic. As the sun rises in the morning the blue waters of Long Bay and Smuggler’s Cove below become more dazzling by the minute. Jost sits several miles off to the northwest but you feel like you could reach out and touch it. We spent many relaxed hours on the pool deck just watching the day unfold as the sailboats passed on the water below and then near sunset we would slip into the pool to watch the sky light up as the sun fell into the sea. After dark, we marveled at the stars above and the twinkling lights of far-off St. Thomas. The grounds of the villa are almost as equally as impressive as the view. There was a lushness of flowering plants, some of which I had never seen before. A bird with the sweetest song came and serenaded us each day as he sat in the tree just off of the eastward facing patio. We thought of him as a friend and gave him a name. Sometimes we would sit on the deck and marvel that the only sounds we could hear were our friend the bird, the wind rustling through the palms, and the distant sound of crashing waves on the beach below. So much of the time here was no man-made sound…This must be what it sounded like in these islands 500 years ago. Finally, the staff that we worked with, both before and during our stay, were fantastic. I can highly recommend this house. ##### Kevin S.
