"Surprisingly lovely pub given town centre location. Berr gardens is a real treat, lovely interior and reasonably priced food and drink. Room was everything you needed- very spacious, plenty of tea/coffee toiltries. Loved the early breakfast set-up, all laid out ready the you are- great for us as we're always up at stupid o'clock and wanted to get back on the road early. Really pleasant stay, ideally located for the races- highly recommend."

"First off the staff were lovely and so helpful. The hotel itself could do with more attention to detail - we got a free room upgrade but only because the toilet seat came off in our hands first use. Second room was very spacious but there wete issues - its an old building so we were expecting uneven floors - leaking showers not so much, flickering lights when first switched on. "This is a charming, family-run inn near Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey). The accommodations were comfortable although simple, and the pub is fantastic, with really excellent food. The service by the family that owns th Inn and their employees is very good. The prices are reasonable, and the locals are friendly. The garden is very pretty also. No complaints, would stay again. The tomato soup and goat cheese salad were standouts."

"Another great stay at the Crown & Garter. Friendly helpful check in & room was very comfortable & spotless as usual. Had a meal with family in the evening & can definitely recomnend eating here - food is excellent, using local ingredients. Had bacon rolls to takeaway on checkout, which was a nice surprise. Looking forward to our next stay - we wouldn't go anywhere else when visiting the area."
