Above Triscombe Quarry. From the Macmillan Way West south of 1357344. The quarry is on this side of the comber; beyond is Marrow Hill, mostly in ST1535, and Great Hill beyond the next wooded combe, actually Triscombe Combe. On the left, the vale between the Quantocks and the Brendons runs northwest to the sea, just visible at Minehead.

Bagborough House The house dates from about 1730, and was enlarged in the 1820s when the entrance was moved from the south side to this east side. Details at http://webapp1.somerset.gov.uk/her/details.asp?prn=40330 . Behind it is the C15 St. Pancras church, described at http://webapp1.somerset.gov.uk/her/details.asp?prn=40323 . Apart from the tower, "over-restored", says Pevsner (1958). Together they sit in an impressive landscaped park on the slopes of the Quantock Hills. Seen from Stout Lane.

Aisholt from the Quantock crest. From the Macmillan Way West as it runs beside a wood on the ridge top of the Quantocks between Wills Neck and Lydeard Hill. The tower of 103334 is beside Aisholt Wood.

Track off the Quantock Drove Road near Wills Neck. This point is on the Quantock ridge line about a half mile SE of Wills Neck. Note the ancient wall on the left with trees growing out of it. The practice of planting trees in walls is not uncommon in the area

Lydeard Hill (3) Roughly on the summit of the hill, looking northeast across heather and bilberry to scattered hawthorns. The view beyond is across the area of Somerset northwest of Bridgwater, with the great meanders of the tidal River Parrett visible in the distance. The dark shape beyond this is Brent Knoll. Far away are the Mendips.

Clean room. The pool can be booked for swimming or family sessions, unusual setup but works well. Staff friendly and helpful. Stayed here several times but only this time did I realise the motorway was so close, as it was light when I was leaving. The soundproofing is very good in the hotel.
