You may never have stayed in cabins quite like ours. Hand built by the owner with wood from the land, they are an unmatched combination of comfort and charm. Overlooking a beautiful brook and mountain view, with trails to the Lehigh River Gorge, the setting offers tranquil scenery and sounds. Come and enjoy the best of nature amongst cozy amenities and great outdoor adventure. Not only are our cabins nestled on a private 200 acre estate, but is surrounded by 40,000 acres of state park land. Get away from the pressures of everyday life as you disappear into ultimate relaxation at The Brookside Lodges. Your romantic getaway or adventurous retreat awaits you. Our luxurious rustic cabins offer 3BR, 2 baths (one with a clawfoot tub. The sound of the brook can be heard as you soak peacefully), with spacious open ceilings and skylights. It can comfortably house up to seven, although if you are only two, you will still find it cozy. Covered porches and balconies, on both levels, provide a spectacular treetop view of the brook, pond, and surrounding nature. Brook Cabin is decorated with unique and rare root furniture, numerous fireplaces, fully equipped kitchen, and prepared with fresh bed linens and towels. Primary suite contains a king sized bed; other bedroom has a queen, and a bunk bed room featuring a full bottom and twin top in a private room with bathroom. The cabin is stocked with board games and game room for fun family evenings. You will feel warm and welcomed the moment you step through our door. Enjoy hiking to the 50 ft waterfall and the Lehigh River. You can fish our trout pond; swim in a spring fed, crystal clear swimming pond, or just relax in breathtaking silence. For the more adventurous (or to just relax and float around) there are tubes and boats to use in our natural spring fed swimming pond. Your private bonfire area, supplied with wood, will be ready for evening s'more roasting and stargazing (no light pollution, you can see the Milky Way!) Endless activities are available no matter what the season. \*\* ice skate on the pond when conditions permit! Hike & cross country ski to your heart’s content. Miles of private trails run along the brook through the woods and mountains. The scenery is beautiful and nature abounds. You will find the terrain appropriate for all ages. You may never need to leave the property, but if you do, even more beauty awaits. Located just a short drive from major ski resorts, golf courses, White Water Challenger, Lehigh Gorge State Park, Hickory Run State Park, Rails to Trails, Jim Thorp, and Pocono Raceway, to name a few. It consists of 3 big waterfalls as you ascend to the top. Be cautious though you need real hiking boots to hike the trail. It’s extremely slippery because of the waterfalls and we went on a day where it rained so it was even worse. Most people make their way up the side of the waterfalls, which involves a lot of climbing on rocks and using your hands. It gets very crowded so we went up the "flatter" trail most people use to go down, which made for a really good work out, and started from the top waterfall and made our way down. This is not a kid friendly place. The trail is dangerous and difficult. There were warning signs everywhere saying to wear the correct shoes and that people have died here, but there were so many people there with their small children who were having lots of trouble climbing and so many people with flip flops. Also no one here had any hiking etiquette about letting others pass. Short walk to D&L trail and hiking in Lehigh River Gorge and 11 minute drive to Hickory Run State Park with great hiking. The cabin is rustic yet has modern amenities. It's a really cool setting with numerous clean ponds, streams, wooded trails, and open fields for walking or running, and for the dogs to run free. Camp fires every night. Very private. It was clean and super quiet. We enjoyed exploring the wildlife that surrounded us and hiking in the nearby State Park (and the creek that runs just behind the cabin). What we enjoy most is having access to 370+ acres which includes fish ponds and paths for meandering. There's a nearby stream and waterfall to explore, plus easy access to the D&L trail for walking or biking. Also, Hickory Run State Park is close by for hiking. Our dog loved running all around and she even made snow angels in the snow!! LOL. This cabin is beautiful, clean, fun, welcoming, unique, and comfortable. Close enough to Kalahari for the kids a day but spent most time on the property. You can’t beat fresh eggs and jam from Major Tom as well as his vast knowledge of the area. The fishing was awesome for our kids. Bedding was super comfy. Can’t wait to come back! ##### Jennifer S. My son got a lot of use out of the paddle boat on the pond. The cabins, ponds, waterfall allow you to get lost in nature. Having Major Tom is a big plus, fresh eggs for breakfast, directions around town or property, help with campfire , tips for fishing and more stories than Stephen King.
