The kitchen offers acres of granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and all the gadgets you need to whip up a feast. When it’s time to eat, the adjacent table for six and six barstools around the kitchen island provide ample seating, or step back outside to dine alfresco on the deck. Head out to explore after breakfast. You’re only around 10 miles from the southern border of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Cataloochee Ski Area is just 11 miles to the west. But make sure to save plenty of time to enjoy your home – the hot tub on the lower deck is the perfect place to catch the sunset, then head back upstairs to start dinner prep on the gas grill. Spend the evening under the stars, enjoying the fire table on the deck, or get cozy around the gas fireplace while you stream your favorite shows. There’s another living space downstairs, complete with a TV, comfy couch, pool table, and kitchenette, so you won’t even have to come upstairs for snacks. Cataloochie was about 20-25 min away (Apple Maps made it look like it was just a short drive - but one of the roads it tries to route you is private- so you have to go around and through Maggie Valley)- but still easy to get to and a great place to stay to ski/snowboard! The heartbreaking part that negatively impacted our trip was the lack of adequately working amenities. If I search out a location specifically with a grill or hot tub or pool table, it should be a reasonable expectation that these will all be in good working order. Unfortunately, they were not. The grill needed a good cleaning and maintenance, it caught fire and ruined our steak dinner one night. The outdoor fire pit would not stay lit. Only half of the jets on the hot tub were working and the temp never got warmer than bath water. We notified the rental agency right away, yet nothing was done to correct the issue during our stay. Although it is the least important, all of the pool sticks for the pool table were missing tips or tips completely broken. Again the issue is why are your renters paying for these items to be usable during their stay if they are just offered but not in good working order. ##### Sharon H.
