Strong cleaning agent smell.
Everything was good except the strong smell in the room, possibly from a strong smelling cleaning solution. Brought tears to my eyes and couldn’t get it aired out.

Although the hotel is dated and could use some updates, the hotel lobby, hallways and room were very clean; which was more important than an updated facility. We did not partake in the continental breakfast, so not able to comment on the quality of that offering.

Our home when visiting our son in college
Our son attends Hawkeye Community College; he was stage-managing the fall theatre production, so being from Ames, we did not want to drive back in the dark and were looking for a place to stay with decent beds. As we get older, it is difficult to sleep anywhere other than our own beds, plus we have to haul our C-PAP machines everywhere we go. My sister had stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites W'loo-CF a few weeks before when visiting her nephew and suggested we give it a try; we were not sorry. We chose the two queen bed, accessibility option and loved it. It took us a few tries to figure out the heater mechanism so we were not too hot or too cold for sleeping, but we eventually got the temperature right. The beds were very comfortable -- firm and supportive but not overly hard. I loved having enough towels and the ability to simply walk into the shower rather than having to climb over a rim or tub AND, being nearly six feet tall, the shower head was set high high enough on the wall so I did not have to hunker down into an unnatural position. The water pressure was wonderful! If I had to complain, there was no where for me to set my own shampoo and conditioner that I bring along when traveling, so having a little shelf as well as a built in shower-gel dispenser might be a nice addition. There were plenty of towels and a wide, sturdy shower chair to sit on when drying off if I wanted to use it. I appreciated the metal bars on the wall, too. All in all - a great place to stay!

This place was clean and comfortable. The area around the motel was mostly industrial so no grass or trees around. There was nothing wrong but I would not say the atmosphere was warm and friendly.

Smelly, run down and noisy. Mgt offered no help
Room smelled upon arrival like they were trying too hard to cover up other smells. Windows are old, thin and allowed a lot of street noise in the room. After a crappy night of intermittent sleep from noise in the halls and outside, woke to the smell of cigarette smoke. Couldn’t tell you how breakfast was because we couldn’t leave fast enough.

There was a rotting banana peel in the ice bucket in our room when we arrived. The hall and elevator floors were filthy as was the carpet in our room. My feet were black walking barefoot one time to the bathroom. Only 1 of 3 lamps in room had working bulbs, none available to replace when reported

The humidity in the rooms was noticeable. One of the couples in our group had a dehumidifier in their room and emptied it four times during their stay. Another couple had to set the temperature at 59 to help control the humidity. The laminate inside the door was actually slick due to humidity in the room.

Do not let the online photos and ratings fool you! This place was outdated and dirty! I booked 2 rooms. One room was for my family and the other was for a family member. I was embarrassed that this is the hotel I booked. Staff was friendly. Our room had a musty smell, water damage on the closet door, and a gross mildew covered bathtub. The hallway carpet was stained. There was a nasty water dispenser in the pool area covered in mildew. I honestly looked my booking up online to see why our experience didn’t match what was portrayed online. It was definitely the camera angles! Book the Hampton Inn across the street. I wish we would have.
