Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at The Baron during our stay in Washington, DC.
Opportunity areas:
I think that the front desk staff could use some customer service training. I think they mean well but they do have some opportunity areas in improving the guest experience.
When we arrived at the hotel, there was an employee at the front desk and she didn't look up at us, she just disappeared into the elevator and we stood there for probably about 15 minutes, wondering what was going on. She eventually came back, and we tried checking in. Expedia says check-in is at 3 PM but she told us that check-in is actually at 4 PM. It was a few minutes before 3, luckily she was able to find us a room that was ready! (please update your Expedia profile if 4 PM is the true check-in time)
The carpet in the room could REALLY use a deep cleaning. It was dirty and stained. The rest of the room, however, was spotless.
Pros:
VERY clean, spotless actually (aside from the carpet)
The towels and linens were very fresh
Bed was comfortable!
AC worked well
The coffee available in the lobby is great
The location is phenomenal, close to a lot of great places to eat and the metro is only a few blocks away!
The building is old but you can tell that it's kept clean and organized
