Happy I stayed

I was pleased with the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious which was nice because I was traveling with my family.

Terribly managed

I was given a king bed instead of the 2 queen I reserved. Staff at check in was terrible. Offered a cot over and over again after I said I wanted two beds not a cot. We were out of our room until 3:30 pm but room was not cleaned. Room service was wrong and late Positive note: quiet hotel and room was big.

Kimpton Rouge

Pros: The price for the closeness to the national mall was a plus.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Walking distance to National Mall, lots to do and see.
The staff was very helpful they gave us an upgrade from king size bedroom to two queen size beds at no extra charge. The kids enjoyed the soft beds and cleaning staff cleaned up every morning. We had our vehicle parked in the indoor garage, which was a great away from outdoor elements. Would recommend this place for value.

Hotel with serious mechanical problems

Cons: 1. Fix major problems immediately. Do not cheat your customers by advertising a comfortable stay and making them suffer
Previous stays at other Kimpton hotels convinced me to book this hotel. Stayed for four nights. This hotel has serious problems with its cooling systems. On the first night after repeated complaints about lack of cooling (temp in the room was 78oF) at 3:00 AM they moved me to another room. The other room would only cool only to 73o F. The hotel has an archaic circulating central chilled water cooling system that does not have the capacity to handle the load. The staff mislead and lie to you about the problems in this hotel. When asked for their corporate contact information to complain they refuse to tell you a name and contact number. During my stay there I heard other customers complaining to the desk manager about lack of adequate cooling. The management knows the problem and continues to rent the rooms without fixing the problems. They never fixed the cooling system through out my stay. Needless to say I did not sleep well for four nights due to room being too hot. In addition, it appears during the week days they rent the hotel room s to homeless people who have been provided coupons from the city: this creates a whole another set of issues for guests to deal with. It is advertised as a boutique hotel which is false.

Try somewhere else.

Pros: I didn't get sick.
Cons: A bunch.
First night could not get to hotel due to some street party or protest or something that was scheduled according to the staff (they didn't tell us about it). Had to park 5+ blocks away and walk baggage to hotel several hours after we got there as there was no parking anywhere near the hotel. This took away our first night of vacations as we got there at 5pm and expected to be able to see the monuments but didn't get into the room with bags until 9pm. Staff acted as if we were a bother to them just for being there. Place is pet friendly. I missed that in the reviews I read and the negative rating is not off that as I understand that was my mistake for not knowing there would be dogs everywhere and there were dogs everywhere. Place felt a little dirty. Ice machine on every other floor (not ours) and the one on the floor below didn't work. To get a bottle of water I had to walk down to the CVS down the street as no vending machines. Exercise room is a joke. No vent in bathroom so after 2 people shower it is extra hot and wet so you start sweating like crazy trying to get ready. Just not very happy with this one. I think this is my first really unhappy hotel stay. Please try something else.

Great location. Pleasant staff. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Limited menu in restaurant... Hamburgers were great.
