Good value hotel in Arlington

Posted 6-Jan-2016
Location: It is two blocks from the Crystal City metro stop. It only takes about 10 - 20 minutes to get to any of the tourist sites in DC.
This hotel met most of my criteria for our trip to DC. We were only there at night to sleep and the beds were very comfortable, it was quiet in the hallway, no noise through walls of hotel. The annoying things were the elevators and pool. There are only two elevators for the whole hotel (9 floors), so wait times were long. And the pool room is not heated!! The lifeguard said that there is no ventilation for the pool room so it got too stuffy when it was heated so they don't heat the room. It was freezing in there. My daughter wanted me to swim with her, but I only made it up to my knees in the water and I had goose bumps all over, so that was the end of swimming. I think I could have swam in the cold pool room if the water had been warm, but the water was cold also. The hotel has a nice breakfast but I was appalled at some of the guests. People would take three plates of food and then eat half of it, throwing the other half away. Just because the food is free, doesn't mean people need to be pigs. That of course is not any fault of the hotel. It is a two block walk to the Crystal City metro stop, which is convenient. We used the metro all week. I would not hesitate to stay here again if we returned to the DC area.

Everything is great except...

Posted 2-Jan-2016
Great location, convenient, yummy breakfast, and food restaurants within walking distance. Only downside is the curtains don't provide complete darkness, the drapes don't allow you to pull them inward.

Pros: We liked the the two queen beds, breakfast was great, convenient location to Metro. The rooms and clean ans enough space.
Cons: hours of pool are a little restrictive but we worked around it
Location: One block to Metro gives you easy access to all sites in Washington area. WE parked car for entire stay.

Good bones but attention to detail lacking

Posted 31-Dec-2015
Pros: Location, breakfast, gym
Cons: Staff need to be trained/disciplined
Location: Super
Front desk attentive but cable TV didnt work for entire 2 weeks we were there. Staff crowding at breakfast to grab a meal was a bit weird also. Room carpet smelled bad - don't think it was cleaned well. My shoes sticked to the carpet when I walked - gross!

Nice place--convenient

Posted 9-Dec-2015
Pros: I like Hampton's breakfast buffet. It is better than most with real oatmeal (not dry packets) and other relatively healthy choices. Saves time, too.
Cons: Add a hot tub!
Location: Good Ethiopian restaurant a few blocks away.
Worked well for us. Good value for the cost; close to Metro, Arlington, local friends and family, restaurants and other amenities. I chose it because it doesn't have valet parking, which I hate. The only criticism I might offer is that, while it does have a nice pool, there is no hot tub.

Centrally located.

Posted 17-Nov-2015
Pros: Central location, room was clean.
Cons: Breakfast was mediocre. First day it listed cheese omelets, but it wasn't, it was a tex mex type of omelet. Last day no doughnuts :(
Location: Lots, the metro was close, shops and restaurants all within walking distance.
It was centrally located, about a block and a half from restaurants, metro and bus stops. The staff wasn't particularly helpful when choosing tours, or guidance. The room was clean, and comfortable. The breakfast bar was ok, it's been better. I may or may not stay there again.

Close to Metro with great breakfast!

Posted 13-Nov-2015
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Room was clean and very spacious and comfy. The convenience to the metro was a plus. Free shuttle to and from airport was helpful, but be sure and CALL for shuttle as this hotel doesn't routinely make pick ups at the airport. Great breakfast with lots of choices and cookies in the evening. Attended a conference at the convention center and this hotel was very convenient and reasonably-priced.
