Unique property, very interesting mansion. Staff nice enough. Breakfast was milk put out with dry cereal and granola bars with some bananas and apples. There was coffee. No hot food. We had a small tub and a pitcher next to it to wash hair. No shower. Much older home- but it was an experience and we had fun.

Thank you for your feedback. OUr king rooms do not have a shower and that is stated in the description of the room. We hope to see you back in the future.

Comfy and quirky.
It really wasn’t bad at all. The owners were nice, it’s an older place so common sense dictates things will be older. It was quiet, everyone was polite, other guests got along well, easy walk to all attractions.

History and future
My husband and I were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary last weekend. Prior to booking with Herzog Mansion B&B I spent 2 weeks to find the perfect place for what I was looking for. The age and history, location and amenities were perfect for us. The owners have recently purchased and are thrilled to continue restoration of the Mansion. My husband and I visited with Chad and his family about the different places to go and general information about Hermann, they were very knowledgeable. It was our first experience staying in a B&B and it was very nice and quite, full of history and a great homemade breakfast! We will return to Hermann Mo for many more weekends and we will always stay at the Herzog Mansion! Thank you so much for a great weekend!

Just re-opened
It has just re-opened after being closed for three years. Still needs a lot of work. Paint is peeling off the walls in some areas. the stove was not working so had to go into town for breakfast. With time and work it will be a nice place.

This B&B (like many) is a big, old house, which means it has all the sounds and smells of an old house. We asked the owner and it turns out the house was built in the 1800s. It is beautifully furnished with solid antique furniture. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms, which was quite comfortable and clean. We also spent some time in the game room, which has a pool table, TV and card table, with lots of board games in the cabinets. Breakfast was delicious, although we made the mistake of not showing up at precisely 8.30 and were berated a bit for that. The owner was polite and mostly kept to himself.

Octoberfest
We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before so it was quite shocking how you could hear every single thing going on outside of your room. The house is an antique, I thought beautiful, just old and creaky. The breakfast was amazing and the owner just had surgery so he was a trooper doing all of that work. He, himself, was a dry sense of humor kind of person, but kind. We stayed in one of the shared bathroom rooms, which for as little as we were there ended up just fine. Hermann was stunning and made the trip worth every bit of quiet we felt we had to be in the B&B. That was really the biggest issue was the quiet. No one told us we had to be but we felt obligated and that was uncomfortable. We would stay there again as we loved the town so much! And he serves a great breakfast!

Run down bed and breakfast
Went there by train so we had no transportation. The place is a mile walk from everything. No television in the room. Also, if you want to use the wi fi you have to go to the room downstairs where is computer is. Could not call taxi because out phone carrier (Sprint) has 0 towers in the area. Was not offered the use of the hotel phone. Our last morning there one of the other guests went to get a cup of coffee. The coffee pot was empty and he told the proprietor and was told " sorry ". For the price we were paying for the rooms you would think he could get up and make another pot.

A Grand B&B!
I love the character of an old house such as this B&B offers! The price is just right and the amenities make you feel casually at home. Breakfast is wonderful and the place is quiet.I will definitely return and book my stay here!

Never visited a B & B before and probably never will again. Paid way too much for not having a TV in our room, uncomfortable mattress and tiny toilet/bath tub. Breakfast on the other hand was fantastic. Manager was very friendly

Relaxing Stay
It was a nice stay in Hermann. Our location was quiet and within walking distance to the attractions in nice weather. Our host was very pleasant. The breakfast was very nice and plentiful. The rooms could use some updating and definitely a deep dusting. The antique bathing tubs were interesting for us. It is a great place to stay if you want to experience the culture and heritage of this great little town. We would stay there again.

Our first B&B
This was a nice experience as first time bed and breakfast consumers. Birk was a pretty funny guy and the breakfast was awesome. The people who stayed with us were nice people as well. It seems like in bed and breakfast's you spend more time interacting with other guests.

Went to Hermann for an impromptu getaway.. We loved it. Birks is located in the historic Hertzog mansion. Richard, the owner, was very accommodating. His excellent service (and breakfast) helps you overlook what the place is lacking. There are nine guestrooms. We had room 8 (which needs new carpet badly). Overall, Hermann is a blast and we would stay at Birk's again.

A wonderful gem in an amazing town
We stayed at Birks for an impromptu weekend for hubby's birthday. This is an authentic Victorian home with all the quirks of the era. Beautifully appointed in every room. Room #7 was awesome. Don't expect a 5 star hotel, this is an old house but that is the charm of it. Richard was a great host, we felt comfortable and at home the entire time. Breakfasts were amazing! The town has it all, wineries, great food and unique shopping. We would recommend this to ANYONE who wants a relaxing step back in time.

Overpriced for what you get
The owners were nice and the breakfast was very good, but the home is in disrepair and needs major attention. Everything was very shabby. For the cost of the stay I expected much more. Good location if you wish to be able to walk to a winery.

beware - room 5 is really small!
We ate a delicious breakfast outside the beautiful Victorian dining room in an addition - modern but not Victorian as was the separate modern bathroom for room 5. When we made the reservation room 5 was the only one left so we took it and asked to be upgraded if possible - maybe someone didn't show up but room 1 was not used either night. Staying in a real Victorian mansion should have included some real Victorian eating and sleeping experiences for $300+

Great bed and breakfast, you won't be sorry.
Our stay was fantastic! Richard, who runs the place, was very nice, attentive, and flexible. He cooks everyone breakfast each morning, ready at 8:30am, and it was delicious. At the end of our stay we had to leave early in the morning and Richard woke up early to make sure we got a nice breakfast at 6:30am. The house itself was very warm, cozy, and very clean. The bed was very comfortable, and the common areas were fun and inviting. Would definitely go back, well worth it.

Great Stay
We stayed at Birk's Gasthaus while we did the Katy Trail for two days. It was a great stay with a comfortable room, great breakfast and very accommodating host, Richard. He went out of his way to make our stay relaxing, and was very helpful when it came to storing our bicycles overnight. It was everything we expected.
