Peruse an assortment of antiques and artworks, including armory and French 18th-century paintings, across 25 galleries of this national museum.

The Wallace Collection is one of London’s best collections of fine and decorative arts. The galleries are held in the famous Hertford House, a mansion that belonged to the aristocratic Seymour family. Browse the displays of furniture, weapons, porcelain and classic paintings that date back as far as the 14th century.

Learn about how the museum was opened in 1900 with the private family collection that had been assembled by the Marquesses of Hertford and Sir Richard Wallace. Admire the impressive townhouse, which dates back to the 18th century. Take a free guide with floor plans and suggested museum trails from the reception desk. Kids will enjoy interacting with the multimedia touchscreen guide.

Marvel at the many artworks on display, among them oil paintings dating back several centuries. The collection has a strong presence of17th- and 18th-century Dutch and Flemish pieces as well as 18th- and 19th-century French works. Look for intriguing porcelain objects, including French Sèvres pieces from the 1700s, and examples of Italian Renaissance maiolica pottery.

Meander through the armory sections, which are filled with European and Oriental remnants from hundreds of years ago. Arms and armory count for by far the largest proportion of the collection. See jewelry, sculptures and furniture in the other exhibits.

Eat a classic European-style meal in the elegant courtyard of the Wallace Restaurant. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea daily, as well as dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. Find out more about wine from experts during the monthly Wallace Wine Club event held here.

Purchase souvenirs and gifts with an artistic theme at the on-site shop. The store sells stationery, prints, books and other items.

Enter the Italianate mansion and view the permanent and temporary exhibits for free. The museum opens daily from morning until late afternoon.

The Wallace Collection is in Hertford House in the Marylebone area of central London. Take the Tube to Bond Street station and walk north for under 10 minutes to reach the museum. Other nearby Tube stops include Marble Arch, Baker Street and Oxford Circus.
