Escape to the quiet west side of the island and enjoy the beautiful exquisite soft sandy beaches, crystal clear blue ocean and the Waianae mountain views. Stay here and experience authentic Hawaiian living in your own private 2 story vacation home rental, complete with 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and a jacuzzi located right on the sand. The space: The first level ground floor has two ocean view master bedrooms with king size beds, each with their own bathroom. Both bedrooms have sliding glass doors that open up to a patio on the beach with your own spa, lounge chairs, beach umbrellas, beach towels and a barbecue. All rooms have air conditioning & ceilings fans for your comfort. The spacious second story has 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a large fully equipped open air kitchen, island bar, dining room area, and comfortable living room with floor to ceiling glass doors that open up to a large deck furnished with outdoor patio furniture, gas barbecue, snorkeling equipment, fishing gear, and telescope. Two of the upper level bedrooms have king size beds, one bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two twin beds. All the bedrooms have ocean and mountain views, furnished with dressers, TVs, clean linens and closet space. Walk outside your door onto a beautiful clean soft sandy beach, and stroll along the shoreline exploring the tide pools, go snorkeling in the colorful reefs with the family, or just relax and take in the amazing orange and purple sunsets on this west facing side of the island. The town of Makaha consists of many locals and natives, and attracts surfers from around the world during winter competitions just north of our property. Since there is no public parking near the home, the beach rarely attracts beach goers, therefore its very peaceful, quiet and never crowded. Guest access: Everything you need is on the premises, including washer and dryer. We rented this house for a family of 10 with the intentions of a week long vacation. We left within less than an hour of our arrival. The photos of the house are very misleading!! Other than layout they don’t reflect the actual conditions. It was dirty, roaches in the bathroom, water damaged walls in the lower basement, only the bedrooms are air conditioned leaving the main area of the house like an oven. The downstairs bedroom has a door leading to the outside with a gap underneath where critters and bugs can come in. There was broken furniture and the entire place is in desperate need of paint and other maintenance. The neighbors blasted loud music within minutes of our arrival sending a clear message that they did not want us there. The entire area is full of homeless encampments including one less than 100 yards from the house. Within 15 minutes, two homeless men wandered up to the house on the beachfront which was loaded with trash. Not surprising given the homeless situation.The owner was kind enough to refund our money without argument, leading us to believe that the situation like ours isn’t unique. We left and headed to Waikiki instead and had a wonderful time. When we arrived in Waikiki and were talking to locals they’d asked us where we came from and such, and when we’d mentioned our original plans and the location, they were shocked that anyone would rent a vacation home to tourists in that area as it’s downright dangerous. We booked this house for our family of 12\. As we drove to the house, the streets and beach are lined up with homeless tents and people. I still had hope, but that quickly faded when we walked out on the balcony and had a homeless woman laying on the beach right beside our beach and more tents not far away. Not how I had envisioned my Hawaii vacation. We didn’t feel safe in this area of the island and ended up not staying at the house. We were fortunate to find three rooms at the Disney resort. Our waitress and her manager grew up in the area where the house is located. The location is a little far from most places - tourist attractions and good restaurants etc. It was a good 40 minutes to get to HNL. But for the price and view, this was a good compromise.Jeremy (the owner) and the house keeper (Courtney) were very friendly and responded to all our questions promptly. There were plenty of utensils and cookware and large variety of spices and condiments available and we did not need to buy much!Minus:The dishwasher was not working properly and washing the vessels. The house worked perfectly for us. There were 6 of us; including my husband and myself, one adult son,,and another adult son with his wife and 1 child. There were bathrooms associated with each bedroom we used. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. A nice sandy beach was truly just a 5-minute walk away. And the local property manager was very helpful with any questions or concerns we had. The only drawback to this property was the distance from Honolulu. It is about 45 minutes to get downtown. This was my own fault for not researching better. The neighborhood was quiet. Got to see honu and whales from the lanai. Property manager was very attentive to our needs. ##### Jay T. The beach is 2 feet outside your back door. The property is not located in the tourist areas. It’s about 45 minutes off the beaten track and away from all the tourist things. Did not cause my group any problem, as we just planned for the extra driving time. I had multiple communications with the owner, Jeremy. He is very friendly and very responsive. Local contact/caregiver is Courtney. She is fabulous and communicates very well with you concerning any issues. We had a couple of issues, and she responded quickly to resolve the problem. The house was great on a beautiful beach! The owner was always easy to contact and took care of any of our needs that came up during our stay. There were 12 of us that stayed in this wonderful home, with more than enough space for all to relax and enjoy! What we were most surprised about was how stocked the house was! OMG...we brought things in anticipation that we may need them at some point in the week ( paper towels, extra toilet paper, spices for cooking, condiments, etc). We didn't need anything we brought! That has never happened in other rentals before, in my experiences! But overall, this home was perfect for our needs, very comfortable and clean!
