Located across from Volcano Village, and just minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, we invite you to make our fully permitted house your home away from home during your next visit. Like our other highly reviewed property (VRBO #403855), we have attempted to make Fern Cottage a perfect retreat for friends, couples, and small groups or families that wish to experience the peaceful Volcano lifestyle at its best. We also offer a wonderful retreat for kama'aina looking to get away. Comfortably nestled in the lush hapu'u fern and ʻōhi'a rainforest, you will find our location offers relaxing comfort and privacy all the while keeping you close to the variety nearby attractions the Big Island has to offer. Our house is a cozy but spacious 900 sq ft 2 bed/1 bath house that sleeps 2-5 people comfortably. The high vaulted pine ceiling and wood floors naturally juxtapose with the green views of lush vegetation visible from all the numerous large windows throughout the house. A spacious covered half wrap-around deck greets you as you exit the house, and provides an excellent location to take in the views of the surrounding forest on our half acre property. Both bedrooms have high-quality comfortable queen-size beds and a queen-size sleeper sofa is available to provide a third bed to accomodate your party's needs. The master bedroom has its own entry door to the covered porch. The main living/sleeping area is only accessible by stairs; therefore, we are unfortunately not accessible for visitors with disabilities that prevent the climbing of steps. For families looking to stay with us, we prefer there be at least one adult per child, if possible. As with our other property, we strive to provide a warm and inviting stress-free yet affordable alternative to the big resorts. House setting is just as the picture appears. Open living room, dining and kitchen with a gas fireplace was where we gathered. If the weather had been better (we had quite a bit of rain), I'm sure we would have made use of wrap around open porch with gas grill. It is close to the park and the town of Volcano, and is located on a forested lot that provides good privacy. A good choice if you wish to visit the area. ##### P M. Our goal was to stay in unique properties, and this night to be close to Volcanoes National Park. This property hit the mark! Lovely accommodations, peaceful property, clear instructions from owners on how to best enjoy this unique partially off-grid property. In one of the reviews it mentioned the cottage was updated, I would categorize as rustic. There are a lot of owner personal items and limited closet space. The long driveway is narrow (reflectors are spaced on each side) and there is no turn around near the house. We also slept in second bedroom because the exterior door in master didn’t feel private. We had an amazing time visiting and hiking in the park and really enjoyed the short drive from the cottage. ##### Suzy L.
