This family- and dog-friendly getaway, located just one street away from the beach, offers a private oasis feeling while still being close to central Virginia Beach, just 15 miles north. Little Island Park, with public parking, a fishing pier, playground, picnic areas, tennis courts, and a life-guarded beach is just a few minutes away, but with such a lovely setting and so much to do at home, you may not venture far. Bookend your days in your abundant outdoor space - spend the morning enjoying the sunrise from the front, ocean-facing deck, and step outside to the back deck for a spectacular sunset over the bay. In between, the kids and family dog will love playing in the huge, fenced yard, and you’ll all love swimming in the in-ground pool, soaking in the hot tub, and watching the birds from the small dock. Spend the day exploring the water with the four kayaks and two stand-up paddle boards on hand, and then fire up the gas grill and dine alfresco on the deck or opt to eat in the screened porch. Indoor space is just as welcoming, with an open floor plan, comfortable furnishings, and hardwood floors throughout. The well-equipped kitchen features butcher block countertops, a lovely copper farmhouse sink, and stainless steel appliances. Coffee lovers will especially appreciate the coffee bar, at the ready to fulfill your caffeine needs. Countertop seating and a large farmhouse-style dining table round out the mealtime seating options, and there’s room for everyone to relax on the large sectional at the end of the day. When you get tired, three well-appointed bedrooms down the hall promise a restful night’s sleep, including the primary bedroom with deck access and an en suite bathroom. It had a little bit of everything. The ocean was a short walk away and the canal was great for kayaking and observing wildlife. The pool was so much fun and we loved the hot tub. There were also a bunch sandspur burrs everywhere in the yard. Our toddler stepped on a few. The adults stepped on them. Originally, we were going to bring our dog but decided against it. It’s a good thing because our dog would have had them everywhere. We just quick walking on the grass unless we had shoes on. The hosts were awesome and super helpful. The property was great. We caught a lot of fish off of the dock. When I found this place I thought it looked beautiful! I am not one to complain, & we had a great time despite some issues, but I feel like these are worth mentioning. Upon arriving, I found the kitchen counters to be very sticky. I also found a wet dirty sock on the counter, and another on the sofa. There was a small piece of metal (I sent a picture) in the sheets in my son's bed, that cut his foot! Our sofa bed in the living room was broken & nobody came out to look at it until the next day. Luckily I brought a blow up mattress which we had to use for the whole stay. There was dog hair everywhere. If I had access to a vacuum, I would have done it myself. There was hair on the bathroom floor. It just wasn't clean. Kinda gross. I cleaned as best as I could, but shouldn't have had to for the money I paid! This is beyond their control, but worth mentioning...there was no water in the inlet to the bay therefore we could not use the kayaks or paddle boards (this was a big factor in me choosing this place!). Overall, we had a good time, but it was disappointing. When they reached out to me the 1st or 2nd day asking about the place, I told them these things, but nothing was done about it. Nobody from Vacasa ever reached out to me, so what was the point in asking to begin with if you weren't going to do anything about it. ##### Natalie H. It had wonderful amenities. It was peaceful, and we had everything we needed. It was only a short walk to the beach, and the beach was beautiful! The only things that could have been better were: the bottom of the pool was covered with bird poop, so we didn't really use it; the grill wasn't cleaned and was clearly used to cook fish, so we didn't use it; there were dirty dog bowls and toys laying around the property\~our dog tried to drink out of one of the bowls that had dirty water in it before we could get it picked up.
