Use one of our complimentary canoes, or kayaks to explore the wildlife in the lagoon. Paddle, walk, or bicycle next door to Hatley Castle - cast as Professor Xavier's school in X-Men 2 (2003) and X-Men The Last Stand (2006) - in the old growth forest on the north shore of the lagoon. While the Japanese Gardens at Butchart are beautiful you'll marvel at the Japanese Gardens next door at Hatley. Paddle, beachcomb, or use one of our complimentary bicycles to visit the 1850 Fort Rodd Hill and 1859 Fisgard Lighthouse - the oldest on our west coast - at the far end of the lagoon. Watch eagles, hawks and osprey pull huge salmon out of the lagoon from the luxury of your suite.

No Smoking on the property. There is a bench down by the water at the end of the boat ramp where you can smoke.

Lovely clean quiet place but not quite as advertised.
Overall a lovely, quiet and well appointed place to stay. However I booked on the VRBO site which moved me to the Canada Stays site to complete the booking The advertised "Full course complimentary hot breakfasts with nightly B&B bookings" is NOT included for Canada Stays/VRBO booking that we made. That was not clear until told on arrival. Also the distance of "20 minutes around the harbour from downtown Victoria" may be true but not during rush hour, or while extensive road work is in progress on Highway #1. We suggest leaving town before 3 o'clock or in the evening. Bikes are available but the terrain is steep and waterfront starts at the bottom of the hill of course. "Watch eagles, hawks and osprey pull huge salmon out of the lagoon from the luxury of your suite" not easily done from Suite #3 because it overlooks the cul-de-sac, but take a short walk down to sit on the dock for all of those and in such peace and quiet.
Stayed 2 nights in May 2019
