The front desk staff got us right in and noticed my husband was a veteran and thanked him for his service and then thanks were returned as they talked she made mention of her service in the Army. We were only there passing through, but there will definitely be a return trip to this great establishment."

"I have never stayed in a "Bed and Breakfast" in the United States that lived up to that description until staying at the Baer. This B&B was stunning historic beauty from the doors to the floors, and our hosts were absolutely lovely! This hotel is definitely for leisure, not a business trip. The front desk has ltd hours, so arrange checking beforehand. Also, the home-cooked breakfast is served family style with other guests at 8:30 am sharp. I loved that! The other guests around our giant 300-years-old breakfast table were from Italy, Germany, Colorado, and beyond. After only two days of communal breakfasts we were trading stories and meeting up for coffees. I have stayed at the Mulberry (down the street) several times and that place is great for a modern-cool kinda vibe, but if you really want to get the feel of what it might have been like to live in a post-war era family home, then this is the place for you! Our hostess Patricia gave us a full oral history of the home (with historical Vicksburg context) at our last breakfast. The Baer is only a few blocks from the main street in Vicksburg and there is ample, secure parking. One nice touch was that they posted daily notices in the lobby of which nearby-restaurants were open. The one suggestion I would make is that in the room described as having a "sitting area", there could be an extra chair or two so that you could comfortably hang out with a few people around the table and not all on one couch."
