It is located about 1 hour from New York City and was established on April 8, 1793\. Iron mining was prevalent during the mid-to-late 19th century. Mines such as Canister Mine, Williams Mine, and the Pochuck Mine created industry which spawned local businesses and brought rail travel to the town. Today Vernon and the immediate area is an outdoor lover’s paradise. Here you will find a landscape consisting of residential and resort communities, farmland, apple orchards, pumpkin patches, bird watching, barns, horse farms and stables, lakes, fishing, and just so much natural beauty. The famous Appalachian Trail (AT) even runs through it! You will be amazed on what you will find only 1 hour outside of New York City. Very clean, larger bathroom than expected. The pool, which you can view from the private balcony, looked relaxing but it rained during our stay. We met family near by for an event and when we returned to the property, we still found the bar, Jack Otto's open until 11 pm as well as the sundries shop next door! Underground private parking felt safe and convenient with elevator near by. My husband enjoyed fresh coffee the next morning and enjoyed relaxing on the comfortable couches in the lobby. Highly recommended. Pro tips- The room is a bit of a walk from the parking garage elevator, (about 2 city blocks), but an excellent view from the balcony and very quiet. - Bring a make-up mirror.
