Good place below average service

Amazing stay great location, service was the only downfall, very stressful trying to organise a check in time since there was no answer from the contact number for about 2 days and check out we only found out on the day.

Disappointing experience staying in Martina s Home

Although I believed I booked the 3 star hotel (that was one of the sorting criteria in hotel search), Martina s Home is an 3 bedroom apartment, which is being rented by the room. The most unpleasant surprise was when we came to the "hotel" and nobody was there to let us in. We had to ask a nearby business owner to call the owner of the apartment to let us in. Waiting for somebody to come an not knowing if we'll have a roof over our heads in a foreign country and the city where we don't know anybody was very unpleasant experience.

Misleading, sweaty, and not worth your money

This wasn't by far the worst and most misleading hotel I've ever booked. The picture on the front is only the nicest room, but there are four others that are awful. The room was the width of the bed and maybe the length of two. There is no AC and they don't even provide fans and it is incredibly hot in the summer. It is on the top floor (about floor 6) of a building that has no elevator. The map they sent would have been helpful but as an international traveller I had no service and then was reprimanded for not keeping contact with them when I was lost and without service. Diego and Marina charged us 50€ for a late check in after asking for 20€ and were very rude to us insisting that getting lost with the map they provided was our own fault as well as a train delay that caused us to be late. They never even told us what water bus stop to get off at in the initial instructions. The bed was broken and slanted and feather than a double it was two singles smooshed together and dressed as one. There was no mirror in the room as pictured. To top it all off, there was a portable AC unit in the largest room of the building but all who travel with less people are susceptible to the extreme heat and the mosquitos that come through the window since you can't bear to close it. Because of this awful stay hotels.com was extremely helpful to us and eased our pain. They dealt with the rude host for us and made sure to help us any way possible. Thank you hotels.com for being kind to us.

This hotel was so disappointing. They don't have a reception, so had to call 4 different numbers before someone picked up (the ones listed on Expedia were incorrect). We had to wait 20 mins for someone to come and let us in. The website states there is a shared kitchen - true in the sense of the word, but there is no microwave, cooking equipment or utensils at all. Only good to make a coffee, but you have to put the jug on the floor to boil water, and the only power plug that fits it is near the floor. There is also no rubbish bins in either the kitchen or your room. No air con or fans, which in Venice in summer is uncomfortable. Slept with the windows open the first night, and got eaten alive by mosquitoes so got no sleep. Had to buy our own fan to get through the next 3 nights. Also one of the windows in our room was broken and wouldn't shut properly. One bathroom has no lock on the door, the other has a hole in the bathtub/shower, and is difficult to use. They advertised there was a washing machine, but it was broken. Overall, the most disappointing place I have ever stayed.

Pros: The bed was comfortable, and the room a good size. Location.

Cons: A fan or air conditioning in bedrooms + rubbish bin.Replace the shower in the floral bathroom, lock on the other bathroom door, get cooking equipment
