Excellent gateway to visit, just 7-10 minutes walking from both Saint-Mark square and Rialto’s Bridge area (it depends on the path u choose), no Grand Canal to cross, perfectly deseved by transports (3 waterbus stops in the nearby, the closest just 1 min. walking) the area is not a massive tourism target yet and still preserves charme and sensations of times gone by. Penetrating the quiet narrow streets, the "calli", around the buinding one discovers the "Campi", characteristic small squares of Venice with their old-fashoned flavour and the small family-run restaurants which offer menus of exclusive special dishes of local tradition. It is the only and last Venetian area where old manufacturers and small local art galleries still survive. Small daily local markets selling fresh products of the region can be also found in the surroundings Finally Amaryllis proposes a comfortable accomodation in an unique area, perfect for those who look to visit the most original Venice, avoiding the unpleasant feeling of beeing in a theme park. Arsenale’s and Giardini’s proximity (most fascinating Venetian spots and Biennale Expo main sites) is a plus. Gondola tour pick up is just few steps away. Perfect size for every kind of group, family, friends, couples, Amaryllis proposes high ceilings (3,30 mt) parquet floors in every ambience white framed windows and white wooden doors. Elegant features, large windows and quality lighting create extremely relaxing and bright ambiences, offering guests a pleasant, restful and quiet accomodation. Due to its particular layout (dining area is separated by the living/TV) Amaryllis can accomodate up to 6 adults in three separated rooms. All beds are comfortable single and every sleeping configuration request can be easily satisfied (two single can be firmly fixed and made on a double, and reverse). The dining area is equipped with an elegant 6 seats tempered glass table and its proximity to the (fully equipped) kitchen allow guests to easily prepare and serve every meal. Procedure d'accueil inexante, on nous a demandé des l'arrivée la taxe séjour mais pas de visite des différentes pièces, on a eu l'impression que la propriétaire était très pressée. une chambre est particulièrement très bruyante avec bruits chiens et du passage sur la rue. Sinon Venise est une très belle ville, très dépaysante, des monuments magnifiques. A voir également Murano et Burano. Along the way he showed us the grocery store and suggested several restaurants. The apartment is charming and located in a quiet neighborhood. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The host was truly amazing with communication from 3 days in advance to ensure we check in fine. It also has good air conditioning, which definitely helped on the hot summer days. Andrew is a friendly and kind host who goes out of his way to make it a happy stay; he met us at the water bus stop and walked us to the apartment, filling me in with details about the neighborhood, tips for restaurants, etc. along the way. And the Castelo neighborhood is just so lovely. As advertised in the description and mentioned in other reviews, the neighborhood is really pretty and chill, while still being a short walk to all of the major attractions in the city. Trust me, when you finish up with a day of sightseeing and wading through the throngs of other tourists, it is pretty heavenly to return to serene Castelo. One attraction that was surprisingly empty, much to our delight, was the beautiful Scuola Grande di San Rocco, home to magnificent Tintoretto artwork. It's a must! We could walk or take a boat to all of the sights. There is a grocery store nearby. The kitchen is well equipped. The beds were comfortable. Comfortable to reach from/to the airport this accomodation is quiet and comfortable. There was enough space for the two couples and we really liked having two bathrooms. Within a couple minute walk in multiple directions are cafés and restaurants that were fantastic. And there are nearby vaporetto stops if you don’t feel like walking, though getting to the Rialto bridge or San Marco piazza is only 10-15 minutes. ##### Kevin F. Place was exactly as described, clean, very spacious, with a well equipped kitchen. Hosts were very helpful! We were told what water bus to get on, what stop to get off and they met us there to walk us to the home.
