Excellent location and great canal view
The place was excellent for us..and in great location! The staff was super nice as well. We took the room with view to Canal and was great to see Gondolas all day next to us 😍 For Jewish community: We stayed for Shabat and the owner was super helpful. The room doors are regular keys, and since there’s Eruv…you can take it with you.

We enjoyed our stay in this cozy hotel. Great location, Rialto bridge is so close and you can walk to most attractions. Also close to the Ca D’oro water taxi station, 5-minute walk only.

Pros: Convenient location (close to everything). Very clean (cleaning daily). Cons: TINY shower. The bathroom was not super small but the shower was super tiny.

Excellent Location literally few minutes from the Rialto Bridge. One of the best breakfast coffee “Farini” the next door to the Hotel reception. Gift shops, and convenient shop near by. The room furniture in “Venecian style”. Modern clean bathroom. The wifi in the hotel is occasionally, sometimes just usable, sometimes crap. Luck necessary for a life. Your best choice to strolling by the Grand canal or on the St. Mark place because you can not be slept in your room till midnight about the fruit juice bar under the hotel. 😉😬 In nutshell; absolutely worth the money you paid, and even much better than you expected from a one star accommodation.

Nice stay in nice area of Venice
We got sooo lost trying to find this hotel, but once we did it was a wonderful place to stay! Clean, quiet, and in the middle of the city near the Rialto. We only stayed one night but very much appreciated the air conditioning and their willingness to keep our bags for us the morning/early afternoon after our stay. Would use them again.

We had a nice stay here. The location was great - close to so much! The room could be updated, but it definitely had a Venice vibe, being a little less modern. It was very clean. We did hear some club/party noise on the Saturday night that we were there so if you want a really quiet room, perhaps ask for one that is not in the front of the building?

Air conditioning problems-hotel staff very helpful
The hotel is located in an amazing area in Venice, it is very clean and staff are extremely friendly. Unfortunately, my review is not 100% positive because our air conditioning system was broken and we had to wake up several times during the night to empty the water collected inside (from condensation). In this way, we had 3 very tiring nights and made our trip less than ideal. However, the staff was very helpful and they tried to fix it right away, but unfortunately those attempts did not really work. The manager was very empathetic with us and said it will reimburse part of our payment. That made us realize they really care for their costumers. So, unless you are unlucky and get a room with a frail air conditioning system, I see no reason to highly recommend Al Vagon if you are staying in Venice with your family.

The room was very clean and roomy for four people and the bathroom was equip with bidet, toilet, shower, and hair dryer; however, the only two problems I would have to note is that the room with the furniture and decorations were very old and timey and also there is no elevator so you have to lug your luggage up a flight of stairs by yourself. Other than this, it was a very good location and the front desk people were helpful and could speak good English unlike other hotels in Italy.

Nice Hotel but a lot of noise from a smoothie bar
This hotel is located in two buildings. One building is next to a side canal, the other kitty corner from it. I requested a room overlooking the side canal, but for what ever reason I received a room in the annex building. Maybe it was because I needed a triple room. At any rate, there is a fruit smoothie bar at the corner of the main building of the hotel. It is the only smoothie bar as far as I can tell in Venice. They play their Caribbean/pop music too loud, and I could hear it at midnight in my room with the windows closed, which, by the way, was not that close to the smoothie bar. I spoke to the hotel staff about the music when I checked out, and I felt better after they told me it was an ongoing problem and other customers had complained about it also. They said they are trying to tell them to turn the music down, but the establishment is apparently only sporadically cooperative. The other issue we had was even though the property is non-smoking, the patrons in the room next door smoked and the smoke was some how channeled into our room via the air conditioning duct. No doubt the smokers were the amount of smokers in Europe annoying people with their cigarette smoke is beyond disbelief. These two issues aside, it is a good hotel in a good location in the center of Venice.

Amazing hotel if you're looking for something right it the centre of Venice, literally a 5 min walk from Rialto Bridge, lovely little room, decor a bit dated but still nice! Would definitely recommend!

Venice with kids
This was the first time in Venice for me and my kids (8 and 11) but second for my wife. Briefly: close to Rialto bridge (though tricky to find) hotel restaurant was one of best meals in town, location is perfect, staff was friendly and helpful, beds were comfortable. Extended: The Hotel is located just north of the Rialto bridge meaning, take whatever mode of transportation you want to there and walk north. It's hard to find but once you do, it's not hard to re-find. The location is excellent and its surrounded by everything. It's not loud/noisy as it is a little off the beaten path. The room is typical for hotels I've been to in Europe. For four of us, there was a double bed and two small singles for the kids. One bed was less than perfect but all of us slept well. Bathroom was clean. Venice is a tourist town especially when it comes to food. It's gorgeous but the food is not what you'd expect. Except the hotels restaurant is great. We enjoyed it greatly and would go there even if you don't stay at the hotel. It's located right on a canal and isn't overly expensive. Highly recommend this hotel. Just use the GPS or ask people a lot to find it the first time.

We loved our stay at Hotel Al Vagon. While our room was over the juice selling place, we were not disturbed by the noise and my husband is a light sleeper. The staff at the hotel were all really helpful and cordial. We loved the cafe closed by they recommended for our breakfast! Really nice tiramisu there too :)

Owner was very helpful including carrying bags up three flights of stairs. There is a chair lift on the staircase which we didn't see in motion, but assume works for those who need it. Wonderful fresh fruit smoothie place just around the corner and on-site fine dining restaurant at a decent price for Venice. GREAT location!

when we first arrived at the hotel it was dark and we were a bit put off by being in a separate building to the hotel reception. Don't let this out you off though, once we got up the two flights of stairs the corridor and hotel room were definitely of a higher standard than a one star hotel. Staff were really friendly and the room was comfortable and clean. A good location, just a bit of a struggle to get to with a large suitcase.

Great hotel, fabulous location, easy to find from main train station. Rooms were super clean, hotel staff nice, wifi dropped out at times. This hotel has a low star rating but don't let that put you off, it should at least be a 3 star. Would recommend

Good value, great location. Simple and clean.
I stayed for 3 nights with my wife and 14 year old son. The room was clean and comfortable, though the beds we're quite firm, and roomy enough. Although nothing luxurious, it was exactly what we expected. The location is excellent, near plenty of good restaurants yet away from the high traffic tourist corridor. Not far from great spots like Rialto, the bus to Murano and the Jewish Ghetto. One tip, it's a bit hard to find but if you come across the Al Vagon restaurant, go around the corner - and it's next to the smoothie stand.. Enjoy!

The room size was larger than expected. No breakfast included, which seems to be the case for most of the hotels (in contrast, we had no problem in finding a hotel with breakfast included in Florence and Rome). Our room's entrance is separate from hotel reception entrance, and faces a busy aisle with restaurant tables (it gets a bit noisy outside, but we weren't bothered too much). The hotel owner is helpful and easy to reach, and were at the reception whenever we passed by reception entrance. The real downside for us was that beds were roll away beds, and mattress was not thick enough, so it wasn't really comfortable. One was especially uncomfortable, with springs poking you when you sleep. My wife and son also got bitten with some kind of pest, but we aren't completely sure it happened in the room - my wife thinks so. Location is central. Overall, not very comfortable - at that price point, we thought the owner should invest comfortable beds.

1 night in Venice
After a long trip from the mountains to Venice, we spent a night at Hotel Al Vagon, and the room was very nicely decorated for a 3-star hotel. Not only did it have ambienance, but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We spent a good night's sleep here. They also allowed us to keep our bags at their hotel after checking out so we could tour Venice till mid-day.

We requested a quadruple room which consisted of a queen bed, a sofa bed and a twin. The beds were not the most comfortable, and with the air conditioning running at night, the beds could have used more than the thin bedspread and sheet provided (a comforter or blanket would have been nice). We would have preferred not to use the wall air conditioning unit, but we couldn't keep the windows open at night for two reasons: 1.) mosquitoes (bring bug spray!), and 2.) the noise of the music and people in the streets. As far as the location goes, it was close to a good sized market and to the Rialto Bridge.

Very well situated
This hotel is very easy to get to on foot from the train station, a short walk to the Rialto and San Marco. We were also able to investigate the ghetto easily from this hotel and the "east coast" of Venice both of which are a side of the city you shouldn't miss. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was ample! Air conditioning is a must in Venice, and this hotel delivers that. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We'd stay here again if we were to return to the city. The fact that breakfast wasn't provided wasn't a big deal. There are numerous coffee bars in the area. It would have been a nice perk if the hotel had offered in the lobby a water cooler with lemon slices for guests. The lemons in Italy are plentiful and ever so delicious and water fountains in this city are few and far between. To be greeted by a cool, lemony glass of water would set this hotel apart and been a most welcomed greeting, but certainly not a reason to not stay here. It's just a suggestion. (Skip the Al Vagon restaurant and make a 10 min walk to the coast of the Carraregio for a dinner of fresh fish (or pizza) water's edge. It's worth it! The hotel staff will provide suggestions.)

Our room overlooked a canal, with two large windows which we could open to the breezes. There was a terrific restaurant of the same name just downstairs, and the tables on the patio were also on the canal. Great place for people watching. Room was comfortable, AC worked great. Very close to Basilica San Marco, Rialto Bridge. Room was quiet, and we highly recommend asking for a room on the canal side of the hotel.

Hotel Al Vagon is a nice place to stay. Venice is not a big place. Most of the popular tourist destinations can be reach by foot from the hotel. I booked the room with the canal view, which is well worth it when you step out on the balcony and has the full view of the inner canal. I'll pick the hotel again when I travel to Venice next time.

An affordable, clean hotel with a convenient central location. The canal view was very nice, if a bit noisy at times, but made you feel connected to the city. The service was fine, but minimal. Front desk person available 24 hrs, but some had more limited English than others. Beds were not very comfortable, but overall, it was a good value for the price. I would consider staying again.
