A very pleasant stay
I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Montecodeno, while the room are basic, they were clean and the beds were comfortable. The location is good, very close to the ferry port and train station. The buffet breakfast exceeded my expectations for such a small hotel. Matteo and the lady (who I didn't get the name of) at front desk were both really friendly and helpful, such as getting us an umbrella when it was raining without asking and giving us directions.

Perfect stay. Cheap and very comfortable . Perfect for a mini break. Beds very comfortable , room spotless and breakfast excellent ! Staff also very friendly and helpful. For the price amazing !!

The address provided is not the lobby address of the hotel but it is the address of the back entrance to get into the room. No refrigerator in the room to keep in the room but they allow us to store my insulin in the near location. The hotel room that we get is not wheelchair accessible, it has steps.

Hello!I'm sorry but the adress is right, the door is just behind the bar....I don't know where you saw that we have refrigerator and that the hotel is wheelchair accessible.

Very convenient location for swimming and ferries. Public town parking (though super expensive at some 36 Eu per day) is down the street. Good breakfast. The AC had an issue the day we were there, but that was not a concern even though it was a very hot day as the temperature indoor was still around 22C. We enjoyed our stay.

Disappointed that we paid for a 3 star motel to get moved to a 1 star motel up the road, when we checked in. We were told by the receptionist that the rooms were better and that it had an elevator. Get there elevator didn’t work, cupboard handles missing, no fridge. We were not offered a discount very disappointed ☹️

Hello!You're right!Unfortunately after a thunderstorm in the night the elevator broke a cable, and since it was sunday we had to wait until MONDAY to fix it!And then, we didn't move you anywhere different from where you reserve :)Also, You pretended a discount which is different from what you wrote

Property was not as advertised. The picture on the Expedia page was a picture of a hotel across the street. We requested a lake view room so they put us in a different hotel 2 blocks away, right over a bar, at a busy intersection with still no lake view. This hotel had only a one star rating. Very disappointed.

Staff (the young nice guy) is very friendly. The location is just 1 min a bit uphill from the ferry station (from the train station it'll be around 5-10 min walking). Wifi works, AC I did not need (I tried to get some heating from the AC but it didn't work that way haha). The bed in the single room is small but comfy. What I didn't like tho is how noisy it is, you can hear everything from the hallways, including people snoring and bathroom noises. My room, 9, had an (obstructed) lake view, very nice. Overall, a good stay for the money considering it was the cheapest option in the mid-lake area. And yes, Varenna is nicer than Bellagio but Bellagio has more shops, restaurants etc.

Nice stay
Nice for a mid to budget hotel. Breakfast was nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable, but certainly nothing fancy. Location was great, very close to train/bus station and ferry terminals. Limited service hours. A/C was unavailable unless temps are over 25 degrees. We could hear other guests, and a little street noise, but not too bad.

Overall, my partner and I had enjoyable stay. Though we were confused as to why the property is listed as Hotel Montecodeno, but you actually stay 500 meters down the road at Albergo Beretta. Nonetheless, the staff was friendly and room was quite clean and comfortable.

Check-in was very confusing. We booked a stay at Hotel Montecodeno but the hotel was closed and the sign on the door said to go to Hotel Barretta to check in. So we stayed at another hotel. Because this is not peak tourist season there is no hotel staff at night and only intermittent staff available during the day.

Mateo is service beyond expectations!
Great service. Mateo at the front desk was the best part of our stay. This young man was helpful beyond words. He assisted us with parking, carrying our bags up many flights of stairs, directions and translation. He really was the star of the hotel and made our stay wonderful.

The hotel was very cimple but also very nice.The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were basicbut very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The location was perfect. It's very close to the train station. I would definitley recommend it.

The hotel was in a nice location for Varenna. And the service was excellent. The only downside was the room was a bit cramped. But most of the time we spent outside anyway.

Excellent location. Reasonable price. Staff was super nice. In general the property is in need of redecorating . Room was clean but molds on walls in bedroom and bathroom detracted from general impression. Poor lighting seemed to be the norm in all properties at which we lodged in Italy.
