The apartment is on the second and top floor of the building, it's just 10 minutes by walk from train station, 5 from ferry and literally two steps far from main square, groceries, cafés, restaurants, public services and beaches. Downtown Varenna by George can accommodate up to 4 people (bedroom with double bed and double sofa bed in the living room). Inside, a kitchen, a comfortable living room overlooking the characteristic "contrade - districts" of the village, a comfortable and spacious bedroom on the upper floor with lake view, a bathroom with shower and washing machine, a flat-screen TV. The apartment is the ideal either for a relaxing holiday or as a base to discover all the attractions of the Lake Como! Guests will have full availability of the apartment. Guests can expect a prompt communication with the host, that will be available to receive them and offer guidance and support. The apt is inside a pedestrian zone in the old center of Varenna, overlooking its promenade: all the restaurants, bars and shops are at 50 mts maximum distance. The apt is just 5 min walking distance from the ferry and the passenger boat docks, and 10 min walk from the railway station. \--- At the railway station there is the agency "I Viaggi del Tivano", where you can get information on timetables, means of transport and locations that can be easily reached from Varenna (for example Bellano 10 minutes away, Saint Moritz ...), it is also possible rent bicycles. In the main square of the village there are two grocery stores that sell a little bit of everything, the post office and the pharmacy. Parking in Varenna in summer is difficult: there are free parking spaces (white lines - hardly free and generally available for a maximum of 4 consecutive hours), paid parking spaces (blue lines - about 1 euro / h, from 8-12.30 and 14.00) 19.30, numerous in the station square); while it is forbidden to park on the yellow lines (reserved). At the entrance of the village, 200 meters from the house, there is a large paid municipal parking (20 euros / 24hs). Also, a winding staircase to get to the bedroom upstairs. If you have mobility issues it might be hard to navigate, especially bathroom trips at night. We would definitely stay here again! Our communication with Ettore was excellent and he was extremely helpful with everything before and during our stay. The apartment is perfectly located in Varenna and has everything one requires. The upstairs bed and bedroom layout was fantastic with the most comfortable pillows we have experienced in Europe. The sofa bed was also very comfortable. It was a joy to stay in such a cosy and comfortable apartment. We will definitely return so as to experience this town in the Summer months when everything is open. The photos of this apartment are exactly what you get. It was very clean and in the heart of downtown Varenna. Ettore communicated very well, and he went above and beyond and had his father pick us up at the train station to acquaint us with the area and show us around the apartment. Right below the apartment, there is a wine bar, and a very excellent restaurant, Il Cavatappi. There are only a few tables, so make reservations well in advance. They do have outside tables that aren’t reserved, so you will have to show up early for those and enjoy a glass of wine while you wait. There is another excellent restaurant a few hundred feet down the pathway, Osteria Quattro Pass. They have a pumpkin Gnocci dish that is to die for!!! The location of this apartment is perfect!!! Varenna is a quiet and quaint place, especially in the mornings and evenings. It was such a pleasure to stay here! Would definitely come again. ##### David E. This apartment was everything we could have hoped for when staying in Varenna. The location is absolutely wonderful, you are so close to everything. Varenna was by far our favorite place on our trip to Europe in part due to this amazing place. The location is perfect and you have a view of the lake from the balcony.
