It is a straight shot to everything, being on Kingsway you can get anywhere very quickly (as quickly as you can with the traffic). The bed was very comfortable. Not to mention the staff was very friendly. At one point my toilet clogged and since they didn't have anyone to fix it that day, they were willing to move me to a different room for the time being. I was alone that week, and always felt very safe which was a huge plus. The only pieces of criticism I really have was the fact that I had left my GPS in sight in my rental car and the security guy, doing his rounds, felt it necessary to call me at 2am to let me know. I had already been asleep for a few hours. When I told the front desk that I appreciated him wanting to keep my personal belongings safe, I did not appreciate being woken up in the middle of the night. The guy at the front desk defended him but also said he would mention it to him. The only other thing I can mention is that the internet, like most hotel internet, wasn't the best in the world. It was slow and you had to reconnect every 24 hours. So, every time I came back to the hotel, I had to reconnect to the internet. All in all, my week in Vancouver was fantastic, and this hotel was a good part of that. It was my home base and it was wonderful for that. The Ramada at Metrotown was okay. It was cheap and about a 30 minute drive to downtown Vancouver. The Wi-Fi was appallingly slow. I couldn't get anything to load and eventually gave up and just used my phone instead. The pool was also closed for the season (late September) so I think it's probably only open for a couple months during the summer. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were okay. It was nice to have a fridge in the room. There's also a Starbucks and a Safeway across the street which was very convenient. My room was extremely clean and serviced every day. The price was very affordable. The staff were efficient and professional and I liked being mid-way between the airport and dowtown. This hotel is on a major bus route, so one bus downtown (#19) and only 1 bus and the subway to the airport. It was very unwelcoming despite the friendliness of the staff on duty at the time of check-in. The room was barely clean and didn't really make us relaxed. The whole thing was just only a tad bit better than a basic motel :-( BTW, contrary to what the name suggests, the hotel is not in Metrotown. It is in a suburb between Vancouver and Metrotown, far from any happening area. We decided to checkout the very next day on our 3-day booking. The best part, after we checked out and went to the parking lot - horror, the car was broken into, the window was broken and items in the glove box stolen. It was conveniently located to the areas we needed to frequent the most and access to downtown was not overly difficult. We spent the majority of our time in the eastern half of the city (near Burnaby), but we did make a number of trips into the west end of Vancouver, drove over the Lion's Gate Bridge to North Vancouver, and visited Granville Island. The staff was very pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast in restaurant was overpriced and not very good at all. Service was good. Room was fine. Shower a bit wonky. Whole place a bit run down. Elevator ridiculously slow. We didn't know Vancouver that well and selected this one on proximity to the venue we would be going to for the two days we were there but it wasn't as close to it as we would have liked in the end. Vancouver is a tough place to commute in so allow a lot of time for that unless you are withing walking distance and then the hotel price will be quite high. Not impressed that we were not told that the restaurant would be closed on Sunday. Our group booked this property because of an onsite restaurant as we had children with us aged 1 - 10\. Had to walk several blocks to get breakfast. Also continental breakfast was not available. When we did go to the restaurant on July 2nd, only 1 person working who was not overly interested in serving us. Ended up walking out after waiting for more than 15 minutes. Have stayed at other Ramada Hotels and they were much better.
