I almost dies in that cold. Its not a hotel it is a hostel or may be worst . No temperature control in rooms. Parking is terribly unless you pay 25 dollars a day.staff is nice and helpful though. But its not a hotel.

Downtown Vancouver is a ridiculously expensive place to live or stay. That said, this “hotel” was as advertised. Most importantly it was very clean, my room was ok and the bed was very comfortable. Although the toilets and showers are shared I never had to wait for either and they were maintained to a high standard. Staff were friendly and when I did have an issue it was sorted the same day.

The Ambassador is one of the only reasonably priced hotels left in downtown Vancouver (paid $150/night). Other comparable hotels were charging double the nightly rate ($300) and the only reason is that those rooms have private bathrooms. That being said, I've stayed in those other hotels and the Ambassador is much cleaner in my opinion. The question to ask yourself is a private bathroom worth an extra $150/night? This trip was four nights so by sharing a bathroom, which was perfectly clean, I saved $600.....it isn't perfect by any means but hard to beat in comparison to the other options in the core.

Disappointing, run-down, disparaging staff
This hotel resembled places I’ve stayed for less than $50 in Africa and China. If you only have two showers per floor, they need to be nice. These were broken and run down and look like they haven’t been updated since 1999. I would give this place a break because of location and generally clean room and nice-ish beds but it was absolutely infuriating that they lock guests out of the hotel at midnight and you have to wait by the door until the one front desk person comes by - after being away for 15 minutes in my case. This is an awful feeling and dangerous, especially as a woman on one of Vancouver drunkest party streets. How can they not give out a key to the front door for all guests? Their response is that they need to monitor each guest because they don’t trust them not to bring additional guests- are they talking about parties or something more shady? Have a little more respect for your guests and don’t treat them like children and assume they’ll break your rules.

Moderately average. Pretty pricey for what there is, considering you are sharing washrooms. Good location and friendly people though, very helpful. Could maybe do with an update/facelift

The location is nice. There was secured parking, but we missed availability to reserve a parking space because it’s a limited small amount. The toilets area was kind of messy with spills on the floor, but the toilets in the shower room were cleaner, so it balances out. Eccentric hotel experience.

Good value, good location, I'd stay there again.
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It was clean, quiet, and very centrally located. The room was air conditioned, had a comfortable bed, desk and fast WIFI. I was able to do some work on my laptop, as well as enjoy my holiday. The hotel is basic, not fancy, but I spent most of the daytime seeing Vancouver's sights, so nothing fancy was needed.

Nice hotel in great location with friendly staff
Great location in downtown close to many restaurants, star bucks, night clubs, beaches, sky train station, entertainment, middle of all action, entertainment. The hotel was very clean and fairly quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. Decent place for the price and downtown location. Special thanks to one of the hotel staff namely - YING for her dedication to job, diligence, sincerity, dedication, truthfulness, kindness in guiding me very well during check in and explaining thoroughly diligently everything about hotel. YING also explained me about different good places to cover in Vancouver and different good places which are very famous and very near to hotel. Thank you sooooo much for all the guidance because of which I could cover all places with out missing any as locals would know in and out about all places. I also want to thank YING for all her good higher qualities – very brainy, very smart, very humble, very down to earth, very wise, very kind, friendly, knowledgeable about different places in Vancouver, extremely dedicated to her job, extremely passionate about her job, very sincere, very truthful, straightforward. It was great to meet you and I got to learn a lot from you. A dedicated smart employee like you is a big asset to this hotel. I sincerely wish lots of good things in life to YING and all staff of Ambassador hotel.

This is a great hotel if you are looking for budget accommodations near Granville Street clubs and venues. Shared bathroom, small rooms, but clean, quiet and in good repair. Check-in and check-out were great, and the staff was very professional.

Much nicer than I expected, given that it's somewhere between a hostel and a hotel. Great location, very affordable for the area, clean, great staff. The shared bathroom was much less of an incovenience than I thought it would be. A bathroom/shower was always available when I wanted to use it. The building itself was quiet, but the street outside can be very noisy at night between the traffic and nearby bar.

Clean in the room/hotel, great location accommodating, particularly the manager who is superb and two other males front desk were great excepts one young female Asian receptionist who seems should not be in the service business field at all. She probably affects business outcomes if not for the manager holding the helm well.
