According to a map, Hotel Presidente is conveniently located on the main street of Montevideo. Unfortunately, it is not marked on street level and there is no where to pull over in front of the hotel to verify where it is, which resulted in my mom and I driving in circles for some time before she got out a few blocks over to figure out exactly where it was.
Parking is located about six blocks away on the street behind the hotel. For two women traveling together, this was not ideal.
The reception desk spoke very little English which was a problem since we were only given one of the two remote controls required to work the tv, which meant the tv was on one entire night because we were unable to turn it off. After two days and asking several different employees, we were finally provided with a working remote control.
After a restless night's sleep because of the light from the tv, we returned to our room the next afternoon to find that it hadn't been cleaned; no bed linens, no towels, no toilet paper.
We went to check out at the end of our stay and were told that mini-bar consumption was to be paid in US dollars, not pesos, not the credit card that we gave them for consumables at check-in. Luckily, we are American and had some on hand.
Overall, it was a rather disappointing stay. The only redeeming factor was the delightful breakfast buffet, which is far more than the typical bread/ cheese spread of the surrounding area.
