The hotel's location allows for many dining options. Additionally, the quaint and quiet surroundings promote peace and comfort for visitors.
My only suggestion relates to the shower heads. They are standard issue, but my best hotel shower experiences involve the larger power heads with many holes and spray options.
Quiet and right off the hwy. Great pool area and good food at the indoor restaurant. Helpful staff. But needs a deep clean. Trash outside and at the entryway, cleaning supplies and salt stored in the entryway instead of a closet, cluttered front desk and offices, room trash can was dirty under the bag, corners need cleaned. Quirky construction on new upgrades like a pocket door for the bathroom, broken shelf, and no tub. But, it was quiet, the beds appeared clean, everything was stocked appropriately. With better management this hotel has the potential to be great instead of adequate.
We were very happy with the hotel and staff. Everything was clean, comfortable and generally nice. So many places to eat and great variety nearby. The staff was very kind and friendly. During a cross country run, its nice to know there are friendly people to accommodate you.

"Nice hotel a little away from downtown Des Moines"
After having stayed in Motel 6s and Super 8s for the previous few nights to save some money I was looking for a little upgrade that wasn't priced too high and was rated well by users. The user reviews for this Fairfield Inn were good and after staying there I understood why that was the case. I ended up adding a second night because I liked the experience there. A couple of reviewers noted that the walls were thin and you can hear sound from the adjacent rooms. I could here conversational sounds from people or the TV from the adjacent room but to be fair this is the case for most motels/hotels at least at the 3-star or under rating. The design of the room is modern and I appreciated that a lot. The bed mattress was a little hard but still comfortable for me. I used the desk area for two nights to get some work completed and I found the desk area to be very functional. I will stay here again if I'm in the Des Moines area.

Rooms were super clean. Air conditioning and heating worked well during the stay. The only thing that bugged me was the staff concerning the continental breakfast. She was rude and complained about having people walk down for the breakfast when it was still open.
Room needed TLC to address carpet stains , door stop falling off. should not list breakfast when it is there ' Grab & Go' ,Breakfast should include at least milk, juice of some sort and bread and/ or English muffins and places to sit to eat same.
Set in the Northwest Des Moines metro area, the city of Urbandale is home to the Living History Farms, including a 1700 Ioway Indian Farm, 1850 Pioneer Farm, 1875 town of Walnut Hill, and 1900 Farm. The sights and sounds of downtown Des Moines are 8 miles away.
