Historical Silver Islet Beauty @ Lake Superior - Nature, swimming beach, private

Delightful beach cabin with a sauna
Enjoy privacy, peace and quiet and beach access on this 2 acre peninsula, 3 bedroom home. Located at Silver Islet, an off grid cottage community adjacent to the Sleeping Giant Provincial Park you can enjoy the best this region has to offer.

This choice property is known as President's Point -where the President of the 1800's silver mine chose to locate his summer home. Once the locale of soirées including investors and royalty from Europe and the USA - now you can enjoy the beauty, peace and quiet, sun, water, beach, sauna and the historic Silver Islet community. The 3 bedroom modern bungalow house is furnished and outfitted so all you have to do is bring your clothes and food. There is open space that some have used for weddings, memorial services and community B-BQ's. There are 2 decks for full enjoyment of the surrounding stunning views. The sandy beach is just a hop-skip and a jump from the house.

The house has a kitchen with a propane stove and solar powered fridge, great room, dining area, 4 piece bathroom and 3 bedrooms with a wood stove for heating and propane/electric lighting. Phone is available, and generator power. Wifi/internet is available. The property also has a wood fired sauna with a solar batch water heater and an outhouse. Water is gravity fed to the house, sauna and shed from a holding tank fed by pump from Lake Superior.

We have a fire pit set up on our beach - a favorite spot in the evening. As an off-grid location away from city lights - the stargazing is amazing with the Milky Way sometimes joined by meteor showers and northern lights.

New comfortable mattresses are in the three bedrooms - 2 have full sized beds and the large master bedroom is outfitted with a queen sized bed. The Master bedroom has a stunning view of Lake. With the windows open, you can fall to sleep listening to the gentle lapping of the water on the shore or you can watch the moon and its shimmering trail reflection in Lake Superior as the moon sinks towards the horizon. Trowbridge lighthouse light is sometimes joined by a light show of lightning and the booming thunder that gives Thunder Bay its well earned name.

If you are fortunate you will see wildlife visitors such as deer, eagles, Great Blue Herons, loons, ducks, Canadian Geese, mergansers, fox, pileated woodpeckers and the swarm of Cedar Waxwings that feast on the Saskatoon berries just off our back deck.

The fresh air will invigorate and relax you - Silver Islet is a healing place where you can unplug and reconnect with loved ones, nature and yourself.

President’s Point
Starting with excellent communication and preparations this was a wonderful getaway. Lake Superior is unsurpassed in beauty and awe & the local flavor and residents were wonderful and a wealth of information. The cottage is quaint and cute with windows that provide views of Superior and its beauty at every turn. We visited Oiumet Canyon, Kakabeka Falls, Thunder Bay and the many hiking trails throughout the peninsula. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife from birds to fox to deer and more. It is rustic living and just enough to make it feel like your stepping back into time (as the entire Silver Islet does) but with enough everyday conveniences to be comfortable. We would certainly visit again. Many thanks to Nancy and Cam.

Glamping in luxury
If you want to get of the grid and away from depressing news feeds this is the place to go. With no cell or electricity (the is a generator) your minutes away for lovely trails in Sleeping Giant park. The cabin has everything you need for a really comfortable stay (including on demand hot water) the kitchen is really well appointed. Plus the history of Silver Islet is fascinating. We stayed here a week and really really enjoyed it. Glamping in luxury!

Presidents Point Paradise
We had the opportunity to rent for the second time this summer and have already booked for next summer. The cottage is wonderful. Very large with three large bedrooms and best mattresses I have ever slept on! Enjoy the many hiking trails around the area or relax on the beach after a nice sauna with the beautiful scenery as your background! We can’t wait to get back!

Peaceful Retreat
My family and I spent a week vacationing at the cottage. The accommodations were amazing. We had three comfortable bedrooms with the master overlooking an amazing view of the lake. The large living room was beautiful, where we watched the sunset in the evenings. We thoroughly enjoyed the sauna and swimming in the lake! Yes! Lake Superior was warm. There are many hiking trails in the area to enjoy! Or just relax on the beachside a good book! I'm already booked for next summer!

Beautiful place
Hi Nancy, Thank you again sharing your beautiful cottage with our family. When we walked into the living room, we all say "WOW what a view!!". We really enjoyed every moment in the property. I can feel your loving memory and history of the cottage. The property was in the perfect location to view the lake Superior, visit sleeping giant provincial park, and visit Thunder bay. The night sky was to die for. Now, I am going to move on to the inside of the home. Your kitchen was really well equipped. I would guess you must enjoy cooking. The bathroom was roomy and super clean and well supplied towels(I used them and wash them before I leave). Bedrooms were roomy. Especially, the master bedroom was very big and nice view. Cam was excellent host to help us to show how to operate generator, lights, water system etc. He visited us almost everyday and check on us if we needed anything. Please pass along "Thank you" to Cam. Last comment that I have to say is this property was excellent location to share family moment without any technology interruption like phone, internet. Thank you again and I would love to go back if we can. Julie
