Built in 1900, these two historic cottages are located in a wooded neighborhood on the quiet north end of Tybee Island. You'll be a half-mile walk from beautiful North Beach, Fort Screven, and the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum, two miles north of the shops and eateries on Tybrisa Street, and 17 miles east of downtown Savannah. An ideal retreat for a family with in-laws or grown children, this property includes two separate homes that can be rented together (through this listing) or separately. The main house, Tybee Island Sunrise, offers three bedrooms, one full bathroom, and space for up to six guests; the back cottage, Tybee Island Sunset, has one bedroom, one full bathroom, and space for as many as two people (please contact Vacasa for details). The interior of the main house is the perfect blend of the old and new, with vintage hardwood details set against a palette of bright whites. Leave your beach bag on the screened porch, curl up on the sofa with a book or a board game, and enjoy the cozy atmosphere provided by the (purely decorative) fireplace. Bask in the comfort of the AC and move into the kitchen to fix a few cold drinks and appetizers before dinner. The floors were so dirty that my grandson's feet were literally black the first night, and all he did was run around barefoot. The tub had black mold growing all around the edge and to the floor. This property is not luxurious, but it was perfect for our needs. Adorable, beachy, and informal, we were very comfortable there. There is a washer and dryer and a dishwasher. You can eat in the dining room, or out on the screened porch. Efficient air conditioning and plenty of ceiling fans are provided. Also, there were tons of towels, including beach towels. The only wish I had was that it was closer to the beach. It is a pretty long walk to the beach, especially if you are carrying a lot of beach gear, so we drove most of the time. The only issue was pet hair. The listing says no pets. However, black pet hair was present on two beds in the main house, on the couch, and we also got two fur balls out of the floor.
