However the outside of the home and grounds were not kept up well, the grass is overgrown and paint is peeling. The kitchen was functional but old. We enjoyed the charm of the old home but feel it could be better kept. The private walkway leading to the beach is a long and difficult walk…. Also random people would use the private walkway, making it not private at all! You have to be very physically fit to make this walk to the beach!! Be aware! There was ample space for our family of 6\. We enjoyed the large screened in porch for morning coffee and meals. The location was great and was a short walk to the beach for us. If you have small children or are elderly the walk may be challenging. There is a large due to climb over at the end. However we have lived in a 100+ year old home and understand and appreciate the quirks that come along with older homes. The door knobs are old and need to be handled with care. The bathroom situation was a little unconventional. That being said I would recommend a few general maintenance items. 1\. The grass needs to be mowed. It was very long and overgrown in the front and back and made for a bad first impression. 2\. The washer had a leak (we informed maintenance and they were out the same day). 4\. There was a mouse that had gotten into some of our food we left on the counter and the day we left there was mouse poop in the stairwell leading to the back door. 5\. I would recommend a new set of pans for cooking. It was almost impossible to cook anything without it sticking to the pans. Even basic grilled cheese. I would also recommend a larger coffee pot. A 4 cup pot just doesn’t work when you have more than 1 coffee drinker. ##### Laura M. Because of the stairs leading to the living space, and the need to cross beautiful dunes to get to the beach, I would not recommend this to someone who is mobility challenged. Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This cottage is quaint and well decorated. The screened in porch is amazing. The cottage offers direct access to the beach on a boardwalk! It's a bit of a walk - but we loved it! There were four of us and plenty of room HOWEVER, one of the 2.5 bathrooms is in the basement storage area. We opted for using the one shower on the main level and adjacent to the bedrooms. We made it work - but it was not what we expected based on the description. The kitchen is spacious and has PLENTY of plates and mugs - but no sheet pans, pizza cutter, colander or toaster. This made it a challenge to cook even basic things like pasta and pizza. It would have been nice to have a TV in the living area (the two TVs are in bedrooms) Overall we enjoyed the stay (especially that porch and access to the beach!) but would recommend with hesitation. ##### Mary Ellen D. It was built in the 1930’s and I think it was last updated in the mid 70’s. Everything from the paint on the walls to the furniture needs a complete overhaul. It’s obvious the owner is trying to squeeze the most profit out of the property without reinvesting to keep the home suitable for renting.
