The Kaleidoscope Den is an enchanting mix of groovy decor and secluded tranquility, set on 5 acres against the serene desert backdrop of Wonder Valley. Beautiful mosaic tile work graces this expanded rebuild of a midcentury homestead cabin. Unwind on the colourful blend of modern and vintage furniture as you enjoy a carefully curated selection of books and vinyl. Our oversized (10 feet!) illuminated cowboy pool is the perfect place to cool off or take in the milky way after a legendary sunset! Located about 25 minutes from the north entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, this charming and colourful home is truly one of a kind. From the numerous mosaic tile work installations to the quirky rustic yard art there is always something interesting to discover. The ultra plush furniture and kaleidoscopic decor is an eclectic nod to the 60's and 70's but with several modern touches to keep things fresh. Nestle in and explore our collection of books or simply close your eyes and unwind with our carefully curated selection of vinyl… Classic rock, jazz, funk, electronica and more - there’s something groovy and interesting for everyone! Feel free to explore the colour wheel with LED mood lighting found in the living room and also the pool area. 420 friendly but NO SMOKING cigarettes inside please! The bedrooms are located at opposite ends of the house and each has their own separate entrance from outside, offering a nice sense of privacy uncommon in many of these desert homesteader retreats. Brand new queen size mattresses from Nectar Sleep and various pillow choices will ensure that guests have a luxurious and restful sleep. The fully equipped kitchen is stocked with all of the essentials including plenty of cold drinking water. The newly installed mini-split system keeps the place cool in the summer and hot during winter and there are ceiling fans in every room if you just want to feel a breeze. Each bedroom has its own separate AC unit for individual temperature control. There is also an incredible antique Mayflower fireplace from the late 19th century which is a delight for those cooler winter months when you just want to relax and vibe with some Netflix on the couch. The smart TV is mounted so that it can easily be positioned to face either of the living areas, and is equipped with all of the popular streaming services. Outside there are plenty of places to chill out amongst the vegetation (which includes mature palm and eucalyptus trees amongst many other beautiful plants). In addition to the shaded deck areas attached to the house itself, a separate dining structure out in the yard is the perfect spot to take in one of the majestic sunsets that Wonder Valley is famous for. A newly added BBQ gas grill is perfect for an outdoor cookout! Gather around the fire pit with some friends and marvel at the spectacular display of stars above (the area is popular with astral photographers). In the summer time the 10’ oversized cowboy pool is a fun way to get refreshed. The pool is filtered and covered to keep it clean when not in use. This private 5 acre property (2.5 acres fenced) offers beautiful views of the mountains and uninterrupted Mojave desert expanse. We do have neighbours on either side of our lot but they are separated by privacy fencing and undeveloped land, and you will rarely hear them. This is a comfortable, down-to-earth, genuine desert hideout that is easy access and private. The place is safe, spacious, clean and really relaxing with all the modern things mixed-in with the art of the past. The views of Wonder Valley are incredible from here, and it is well inland from Amboy Road making it very quiet location and the night skies are wonderfully dark, with ideal ground lighting that is safe and smart, you can see but not be blinded, and is a nightscape photographer's dream spot. We shall definitely be back. Sean & Gabi are great hosts, easy to work with and have great taste in their art forms! This is a great place to escape. It's private but easy to get to anywhere in the Joshua Tree area. A great place to come back to after a busy day at the park or Palm Springs. It's well outside of town and affords extremely dark night skys. The home is comfortable and very accessible. The hosts were communicative and easily reachable. I have couple of suggestions that would take this property to the moon. Invest in some better cutlery we like to cook and we often do at vacation rentals and dull knives tend to make cooking a little bit more difficult. In the same vein , a small bamboo cutting board would be alot better than the thin polyvinyl cutting boards. We wanted to listen to the vinyl records we brought and the ones that were there but the record player would not stop skipping or scratching the records. It might be time to upgrade. The bedrooms and living room are very comfortable. The grill outside was great especially since cooking indoors was too hot. We realize the desert is dusty and so we could understand the dust inside. We were looking for a place to stay after Christmas to disconnect and reconnect. This home was it. The quirkiness of this home was just what we need. The yard display with "desert" art was something that we really enjoyed. Every time we walked round we noticed something different. The sunrise and sunsets were something you can not put into words. We enjoyed Joshua Tree one day with dinner at the Rib Co. (a must try). We also visited The Glass Outhouse desert display. This is a diffident must do! we then enjoyed donuts after at the Jelly Donut. Our family of four fit perfectly in this home and was enjoyed by all of us. ##### Courtney L.
