This historic property was built in 1925 by Tuskegee Institute using student labor bricks and materials made by Tuskegee Normal and Industrial College students for the Dean of Men at the time, Dr. AJ Neely the mentor of Ralph Ellison and Iceberg Slim. Neely is one of the few historic institutional figures honored with his burial at the Campus cemetery, where Booker T and Carver are also interned. The house has 2 grand porches that allow residents to enjoy the beautiful surroundings while being conveniently located in the in walking distance to the Tuskegee University campus and facilities, the national parks and athletic facilities on campus. It is within walking distance of the campus eatery that is located at the main gates on campus next door to the campus bookstore and novelty shop. It is located next to the Tuskegee University athletic fields and courts. When these events occur, they can be seen and heard from this location. Enjoy the mellow tunes of the Crimson Piper Band. You will need your own transportation for anything off campus. There are several home town restaurants and eateries in town that may be worth the venture.
