No Privacy
The pictures are very deceiving. The house needs major updates. It was dirty and there were cobwebs and spiders. No sheets and no curtains in the bathrooms for privacy at all. We could not shower because of the lack of privacy, and we decided to leave a night early because we were so uncomfortable in the house.

What's the deal? Why won't they replace the oven???
The oven has been broken for months according to the reviews. A staple of a large family cabin, this spoiled our cooking plans. Many of the outlets in the bathrooms are touchy or don't work at all. The entryway was dark, creepy and junky with a panel leading to the crawlspace open and who knows what under there. If you are coming, locate the address on a map then find the back of the house where the garage is and identify the roads that get you there, because you CANNOT park and unload from the main road--the stairs are broken and the terrain up to the house is a steep hill. They do NOT warn you about that. Many windows do not have screens so you can't open them--too many bugs. As many people have mentioned, this is a neat house with a nice view and a lot of potential, but they don't seem interested in doing any upgrades, so if you like staying in a kinda clean but shabby house from 1979 this is the place for you.

Charming and rustic
My family stayed at this house and loved it. The views are gorgeous and we enjoyed the layout. The furnishings are not high end (hard beds, thin quilts, awkward couch) but not bad for the price. The property management is underwhelming (oven was broken and never resolved). With a little love this property could be fantastic.

Horrible property management
We arrived at the cabin and the oven was beeping with an error code. We called Vacassa immediately and didn’t hear back for 2 days. We had to listen to the horrible beep and didn’t have a stove or oven to cook at the meals we brought. We also didn’t get to enjoy the decks because they didn’t shovel the snow. With the amount of fees we pay to stay at this property I would expect to have better service and I am very disappointed

Nice view of lake and mountains
Had a nice weekend stay, property needs some attention, carpets are heavily stained, only 2 burners work on the stove and to get to the lake the walking path is overgrown and the stairway down is damaged and dangerous requiring repairs. That being said it is a comfortable cabin that sleeps approx 8 people comfortably. There were only 2 of us at this time but would consider renting this cabin again if some of the repairs were made. Note: There are 39 stairs from the driveway down to the front door, if you have mobility issues this might not be the spot for you.

Loved the view, house not so much.
The house was very neat and clean. Of course the view of Donner Lake was hard to resist. The long descending stairs down to the house were a bit of a challenge, but we managed. The situation with the outdoor lights and the garage door need addressing. Too much fumbling with the keys to find the right ones (it takes 2) to open the door to the garage. There should be a light switch in the house and not just a light switch inside the garage for the outdoor lights for those stairs. The house had character, however, the stains and condition of the carpets in the dining room, living room and especially the stain in the "ground" floor en-suite bathroom carpet were disconcerting. While the view was amazing especially from the decks, the view from the living room windows was distorted by the condition of those windows and the long crack in the large middle window. The stove had only two functioning burners which is not a good sign for guests. The stone "stairs" and path to the lake were unkempt and unsafe. All that said, we did enjoy our stay but wish the house was in better condition. We feel that this vacation rental needs some better effort put into it before renting it to strangers. With over 25 years of vacation rental experience, we feel this vacation rental did not meet the VRBO standard. I can send pictures.

The spider's den
This property was terrible and frankly should not be a rental. FOr the price we paid I feel like I was taken advantage of. It was dirty and full of spiders and bugs and no AC during the hottest weekend of the year. 1 star is not low enough. DO NOT RENT THIS PLACE.

Beautiful location, just missing TLC
Lovely location... but cabin needs much needed TLC. Many things missing, broken or not maintained. We had a wonderful time but were expecting something completely different based on the photos that are posted.

Great cabin across the road from lake
This place was well-outfitted with nice views and a spacious layout and we enjoyed our stay a lot. Two things would have improved our stay, however: 1. it gets quite warm in the summer even with windows open in the upstairs bedroom, and we could have used a fan. 2. The path down to the lake from the house was extremely treacherous, covered in brush and overgrown shrubs at a steep slope. There is even a small tree growing in the middle of the wooden steps leading down to Donner Lake Drive. For a lake house it feels surprising that no care had been taken to make sure the path to the lake was clear of heaps of debris and branches -- bring a machete and sturdy shoes if you want to brave it.

It's the forgotten Cabin ~ Photo's are very deceptive
Everything is outdated and worn. The owner obviously does not want to put any money into this cabin. Their were cobwebs in the windowsills and drains with spiders crawling out. Along with carpenter ants (need a quarterly bug service). Mold on shower curtain, poorly lit rooms with lightbulbs out, crunchy carpet, inconsistent or not reliable wifi, only one standing shower that was rusted and if you chose to use the other bathtub downstairs at the same time, water pressure was terrible in shower. Pinecone needles on all patios and front porch as if nobody looked into the cleanliness since the last visitors (had to be over a month prior). The visible HVAC filter was being sucked in from too much dirt/dust accumulated. Vacasa took over two hours to respond back to me when my daughter accidently locked the keys inside the cabin while we were emptying the car... Shall I go on? Needless to say, very disappointed :-/
