"The hotel is very tired, but the owners are trying to tidy it up and decorate.
The facilities in the bedroom were poor, nowhere to hang clothes, curtains don't close tv didn't work.
Having said that, it is only rated a 2 star and I will certainly stay again both for the quirkiness and the lovely staff."

"Overall it's a cute, clean, and comfortable hotel at a convenient location. Our biggest complaint is regarding the bathroom and the supplies. The bathroom was huge but ironically had very limited space for hanging towels, putting clothes, and other toiletries. Only one rod within the shower for hanging towels. After shower I had to walk across the big bathroom to get my clothes on top of the toilet (the only place to put clothes). There is very little space around the sink for toiletries. Very poor design where lots of space goes into waste. Finally, the hotel had run out of boxes of tissues (!) and did not offer any small facial towels."
"We checked in late last night and proceeded to our room.
Carpet had definitely not been cleaned or hoovered nor had the toilet. Due to being so tired, and knowing we would only be there for a sleep, didn’t see any point in discussing the matter.
Would I stay again, 100% no. Not worth £200 for the night (including breakfast)."
"Arriving you have to climb 8or so steeps and there was zero help with the luggage. Then you have to drive your car to a parking lot which is 5 minutes by car (as so many one-way streets) and then 5 minutes walk back. Arrived and people at front desk were kind and helpful (other than lack of bellmany but office door open, paper shredder working overtime, and it wasn't the wonderful experience I had hoped on first entry. Rooms well appointed with water and soft drinks (not a single biscuit or crisp -strange) but all in all nice, but not up to top par as it suggests Location perfect but please "fix how we enter our stay as it set the tone in the wrong way" and give me a biscuit for my tea in the morning"
"Air conditioning worked well. Staff were very nice. The room was clean. Price was low for how nice the rooms were, probably because the hotel was under renovation. Very nice hotel. Very well situated too."
"Breakfast was a very basic continental but it suited my needs and was fresh and delicious.
Staff where very friendly and helpful.
Room was like a little chalet, very neat and the bed was very comfortable.
Loved the sound of the river flowing to the side of room it helped send me to sleep.
Will definatly stay here again when I travel to fetch my son back to University and when i come to visit him here."
"We stayed at this hotel twice during our trip because it had been recommended by a Bristol local. When we later described our first room to them, they were horrified and apologized for suggesting it.
Our first stay started with what I can only describe as the hotel's version of a welcome drink: a full beer left behind by the previous guest. Not an empty bottle hidden somewhere—a full beer sitting in the room when we arrived.
The window sill was filthy, the view consisted of rooftop air-conditioning units and a piss bottle, and one of the hotel's two elevators was out of service. The remaining elevator was frequently occupied by housekeeping staff moving large trolleys between floors, making waits even longer.
We reported the issues to the front desk and later through Expedia. Based on the condition of the room, we asked to cancel a second stay scheduled a few days later. The hotel refused despite receiving details of the complaint and photographic evidence.
To their credit, they moved us to a larger preferred room for the second stay. It was cleaner, but still tired and worn, with stained carpets and obvious signs of deferred maintenance.
Hotels make mistakes. What disappointed us was the response. The hotel acknowledged the complaint, documented the evidence, and still offered no refund, credit, or goodwill gesture.
Bristol is a fantastic city with no shortage of places to stay. If we return, we’ll be trying one of the others."
