I had a 3-day training course in nearby Daleville. A fellow participant's impression of the least expensive motel, Howard Johnson, wasn't particularly good, so I looked at others in the area. The Red Roof was the 2nd least expensive. The lobby staff person was very nice and the facilities were clean and neat. The second floor hallway carpet had a few faint stains, but there were no unpleasant odors and the walls were clean and unscratched. I found the rooms to be clean and comfortable, but a bit noisy on the second night. The walls seem to be rather thin. The breakfast was a 'Continental' one. There was typical fare on the first morning - cereal, mini-English muffins, mini-muffins, fruit, juice, hot chocolate & coffee, but several of the items were missing on the second morning (at 7:30). The location is convenient from the Interstate. There are many places to eat nearby; a Cracker Barrel is a short walk away. All in all - it's a nice place to stay if you're not demanding too much. I'd stay there again.
"Pet friendly, convenient to highway 81 in Virgina"
The hotel was convenient to reach from highway - right turn, right turn. There was a gas station across the street, and a few fast food restaurants also very nearby. The front desk person was the only person who I met. He was very nice. The room was nicely cool and clean when I arrived. They had a small outdoor pool - just big enough to get wet to stay cool. Some hotels don't have much grass for dogs. This one does. That was nice. The breakfast space was kept very clean and had the usual food. It seemed a bit pricey to me.
