We came down from Washington DC suburbs for a long weekend visiting Grayson Highlands State Park. The cabin is an easy 15 minute drive from the park, which gave us such great flexibility because we could wake up early, go to the park and hike for a few hours, come back “home” and reset, and then go back out again for more hiking.The hosts thought of every detail, great and small. I lost track of how many times I thought to myself “Gosh, it would be really great if the cabin had…” and sure enough, there it was. Just little things like dish soap or laundry detergent or a candle lighter to start a fire in the fire pit.We loved the location next to the creek - such a far cry from big city suburban life! Could just sit on the porch or sit by the fire pit and unwind. We loved our stay and can’t wait to go back!! ##### Kevin B. Nice to hear Big Wilson Creek in the evening. Enjoyed seeing some good sized trout in the stream, but left my flyrod at home. Lucky fish. Saw several species of birds and heard more. We love blueberry picking in nearby Grayson Highlands State Park. We worked hard for our berries, but they are worlds better tasting than domestic berries and fun to pick. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen nice to cook in. This was our second year there and we hope to return next year. Thanks to all for their work to make this a nice place to stay. ##### Peter B. We came to go hiking but not camping in the park. This cabin was perfect for us. It was very clean and has plenty of room. I especially enjoyed sitting on the porch and listening to the creek. We did not cook food but the kitchen appears well stocked. Check in and check out were very easy and the host was quick to respond to any messages. It was only 2 people for the 2 bedroom plus a corner of the livingroom for the singlebed. 5 people could sleep comfortably. Quaint backporch. Kitchen was well equipped for our bring our own meals: mainly frozen dinners and deli meats. Microwave was our heat source. Didnt use the electric stove. Nearby countystore was a delight to visit. Well stock food pantry. Didn't use the store's restaurant. Look great but, we are hikers who want to spend time in the outdoors. I saw many ponies, including famous Fabio. Picturesque Big Wilson Creek is next door to the cabin. The mountains are beautiful. The people at the two general stores are friendly and helpful.
