Watauga Lake Recreation: This beautiful lake is located across the Western North Carolina state line in Eastern Tennessee. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway on the lake, we invite you to take a look at our recently built cabin. More than half of Watauga Lake's shoreline lies within the Cherokee National Forest and cannot be developed. Recreational uses include boating, fishing, water-skiing, and camping. There is no horsepower limit or speed limit for boats operating on the lake. Several fee-based public and private boat launch ramps provide access on the Hampton side of the reservoir. It had a nice view and we also got a few inches of snow. The cabin is arranged very nicely. There is plenty of room for six people. This is a great place for two couples. Although I was turned off by the abrupt communication from the owners at first, the check in process is easy. Please note that the only way into the home is a set of steep stairs. Consider this if you have an older person coming with you. Also, the bedrooms are cold at night when the doors are shut even though the thermostat is at 75\. For shopping or your personal needs, we brought everything with us, but there is a dollar general 15 minutes the house, and a drive into town for a grocery store, fast food, Walgreens, and a few small shops. It is 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your vehicle on the weather. The drive was pretty in the snow. I recommend a four-wheel-drive vehicle. ##### stacy s. The lake is a walk up and down a steep hill. We enjoyed the hot tub. We stayed on the fourth of July and loved the fireworks from the porch and hot tub area! ##### Jessica T. Loved everything about it, with one exception. The deck kinda worried me with the sagging from the weight of the hot tub. As a home inspector, it’s concerning. ##### Aaron C. The view was gorgeous and the area was very peaceful. The only real complaint would be uncomfortable beds. Everything else was wonderful. Definitely would visit again. ##### Lacy H. Please note that the nearest real grocery store is quite a bit away. Based on the remote location, definitely stop by a store before you arrive to pick up firewood and basics. If you are wanting to enjoy the kitchen and family cooking, you will need to pick up your own basics they don't provide such as Pam spray, olive oil, salt etc. ##### Jeni B.
