Lakemore Retreat is comprised of two rental properties: 'Lakemore Lodge' and 'Lakemore Cottage' all next door to each other on the shores of Arbutus Lake. Pictured here, with the red exterior, is Lakemore Lodge. Lakemore Cottage is the green house. The Cottage and Lodge are luxury homes built in 2015 that each sleep 12, but no more. They are side by side and offer exactly the same amenities and floor plan, just with very different interior design. The properties are rented individually, but many families rent all three for the same time period, altogether sleeping up to 34 people comfortably. Make reservations for Lakemore Lodge here and look for Lakemore Cottage (VRBO Listing #653686) For large groups, you can rent both by going to listing (VRBO#7566523). In the winter, AWD or 4X4 vehicles are required to access the property. The Lodge, a mirror image of the cottage’s floor plan with all the same amenities, takes on a dramatically different feel with rich walnut architectural detail and metal accents. This “industrial chic” style home will remind you of a mountainside lodge, yet the tranquil views of Arbutus Lake sunsets will make you glad you are vacationing in Northern Michigan. Come enjoy the many benefits of this all sports inland lake where the 395 acres are swimmable from May until October, the fishing is plentiful and the conditions are perfect for many water sports including kayaking, stand up paddle-boarding, water skiing and tubing, all while being minutes away from Traverse City’s restaurants, shops, wineries, golf and more. On-site tri-toon rental is available within the Lakemore brand. Lakemore Retreat is directly adjacent to The Brown Bridge Quiet Area which offers miles of hiking trails. Like to snowmobile? Leave right from the property and access Boardman Valley Trail System's 81 miles of trails! Boardman River is also within 3 miles, a great place to do river tubing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. We are only 7 mi. from Vasa Single Track, a great Mountain Bike trail system. In addition, the Vasa is home to 25 km of groomed cross country trails. Mount Holiday is only 15 minutes away, a local downhill ski hill that also offers snow tubing and zip lining. Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is only 30 miles away. It’s a beautiful home. We were a little disappointed that there was no hot tub. The VRBO listing showed a hot tub and all of the literature inside the house said there was a hot tub, as well. We intentionally booked a house with a hot tub, since we were coming in May for a soccer tournament and were expecting cold weather. I spent 30 mins, trying to disarm it. After texting and calling the contact #, I received a text back with multiple codes to try. One worked, but once disarmed it started again. It wouldn’t stop. The fire dept showed up during this and said there were several zones that triggered a carbon monoxide alarm. They said they couldn’t leave until the technician arrived . The tech showed up after 11am, he looked to be maybe 18 or 19 years old. We spent our whole morning dealing with this which delayed the start of our day. Before we left, I asked if we were good to leave and asked if he would lock up (which he did not). When I mentioned co2 to the other ladies in my group, shockingly, more than half of them woke that morning with a headache! they didn’t think anything of it until we had this discussion. Too much of a coincidence and very scary. All day I was a little nervous as I hadn’t heard from them for an update. I reached out after 6PM and the mgr said it was a combo of perfume and/or dirty detectors. If it was dirty detectors, why were multiple zones triggered? The fire dept said the alarms were triggered at 9:30AM. There was no perfume being sprayed at this time. Plus, never heard of perfume triggering a CO2 alarm. And this is a new build. The asst mgr was very apologetic, but I feel the mgr, who never once apologized, downplayed the situation a bit. The texting went on till almost 8PM. I didnt have a warm feeling ##### Jamie J. We were a group of 12 adults and everyone slept comfortably. There was also plenty of room in the basement for one of the couples to bring an extra air mattress since they did not want to share space in the twin bed area. We wanted for nothing but Tricia was always available for questions just in case. She was very clear about quiet hours and guest expectations, which is understandable considering how beautiful and tranquil the property is. Let Tricia know ahead of time if you are bringing more than 3 vehicles. Overall even though the weather was cold, we still had a great time and the hot tub was toasty! I can only imagine how wonderful the lake is during the summer months so definitely looking forward to visiting again. ##### Audrey W. The the place was simply beautiful and the communication with the support staff and service was outstanding. Everything was extremely clean and the kitchen was well stocked with the pots, pans, and tools needed to cook our daily brunches! The hot tub was serviced daily to ensure it was clean and ready for use. Tricia was absolutely amazing! It was a gorgeous property with every amenity we could imagine. The home is well designed and comfortable for many guests. We traveled with our parents, siblings, and cousins. There were 12 of us all together and the house accommodated us perfectly. Lots of toys and games for young children. We enjoyed being able to separate on multiple levels for play and conversation. We went in the fall and the lake views were stunning! God surely knows how to paint a picture. We couldn’t be happier with our stay and have memories to last for many years.
