The staff was very kind and accommodating. The room was spacious and the breakfast was so cheap and delicious. The room was formerly a smoking room so it smelled very strong of cigarettes so that was not too enjoyable. And the Onsen wasn’t very well kept up compared to the other locations. Everything was excellent! Front desk ladies were friendly even though I only speak a little Japanese. She even had one of the staff who speaks my language to help me. And there was a staff lady taught me and helped me dressed yukata. The room was amazing, clean, stylish, and each room has its own A/C. The only minus point was the wooden Japanese sandal they offer was really hard to walk in compare to what I saw on the street of other tourists wore from other hotels. It is also almost in front of Jizou-Yu, one of Japan the town’s seven public baths. Room I stayed in was modern and recently built or renovated. This ryokan has its own bath. Staff at check in was very nice and helpful. They do let you know that staff after a certain time in the afternoon do not speak English and there is an 11:30 PM curfew - they lock the doors. Breakfast or dinner was not included but room and inn were still of great value. It even has its own private balcony area. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous- embodying true Japanese approach interactions.They gave tips for eating out and experiencing Onsen culture. I highly recommend staying here. I would stay here again on another visit to lovely Kinosaki Onsen. A special thank you to Kaki-san, Hara-san and Satoh-san. Beautiful property in a very convenient location, but above all, the staff was absolutely wonderful. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful time. I had a careless oversight and left our train tickets in the room and a staff from the hotel ran all the way to the station to hand us our ticket just in time. Incredible! Thank you so much! Kaki San and her staff were super friendly and helpful, made everything easy for us. Some of the staff spoke little English but were all proficient with Google translate. Making reservations for dinner and breakfast was a great idea - there are many restaurants in town but eating at the ryokan is an experience in itself, plus the food here was excellent! Being in the middle of the town made it easy to go to all the onsens - the ryokan provides a free pass to all seven onsens till 1pm on the checkout day. The ryokan's own private bath is reservable with a fee and is totally worth it. Only four slots each day so it's advisable to reserve early if you can. This definitely wasn’t the most expensive ryokan but we were happy as we felt we got an authentic experience that fit our budget. The private open-air onsen you can rent was easily the highlight of our whole Japan trip.
