In terms of last minute accommodations within Toronto, it does the job. You have a bed to sleep in. However, the building itself is labyrinthine and a little run down. There was no soap in the showers and the staff weren’t exactly personable. Overall I wish paying $200 to spend a night in Toronto got you more, but it is what it is.

Very friendly and helpful staff. One small problem was access as we had no phone number to contact reception. There is no office frontage reception.

Amazing location, tonnes of fantastic coffee, food and shops around and Kensington market is such a cool area. The staff were so kind, thank you It was especially lovely to be able to leave my bags for a couple hours after check out so I could kill some time in this fun neighborhood before my flight My neighbor was terribly noisy but that is just a matter of timing, not the fault of the establishment. I used ear plugs and noise cancelling videos and got some rest. Thanks for a great option!

Kaiser is an awesome person and for the price, this is a great deal and clean. The location to amenities and the UT St. George campus is ideal.

The guest house is like a maze, confused about the entrances and exits. Very noisy the next room from us. Old house which we felt unsafe. Bed sheets and comforters were worn out, even the 2 bath towels look old and dirty. We tried to reheat our food but microwave is really dirty even the toaster, full of grease. We booked here because based on the reviews, it’s excellent however, in reality it’s all lie.

I did not stay here. I refused to have a copy made of my photo ID (licence). Never been asked for this anywhere else. I just wanted a room and did not see the need to start a ‘file’ on me.

Great Location and value
We were coming to Toronto to see a show at Scotiabank arena. We needed accomdation but really no amenities. Like any big city Toronto's hotel prices have more than doubled in the last year. So for a basic bed you're looking at about $250+ for any room. Kaiser guest house was $155.00 if you pay cash for a very small room with a double bed no windows but a small private bathroom. There is a shared kitchen if you require such a thing. Located on College street between Spadina and Bathurst the location is divine.

great location
During a trip to Baie Fine, we stopped overnight and stayed at Kaiser Guest House. The staff was attentive and the location is great. It is more like a college dorm for grad students than a hotel.

This is not a five star hotel and that is not what it is trying to be. It is like a guest house or youth hostel you would find all over Europe and Asia for backpackers and tourists. It was clean and reasonably priced, and very close to where we needed to be. Great spot.

Overall I had a pleasant stay in my room. It's close to downtown and the museum university which is great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The comfort of the room is okay. Good experience and I can recommend it.

No ventilation at all in my room, and no window. Breathing was stuffy and difficult in my room, and I had to ask for a room fan to have any air circulation. Breathing stale air for days caused a throat ache and mild infection. No room cleaning in any way occurred in my 4 night stay, nothing, not even garbage removal. This is a very poor to marginal place to stay. If you want to keep costs low, then sure, go for it. But I was glad to leave and actually be able to breathe clean air.

I didn't have any particular problems, but it was just about viably walk-able from downtown - probably abut 2 miles - and I didn't feel at danger at any point during that walk, although the entry door is a metal grille that must be opened from inside, so it makes one wonder if there are sometimes some less-than-safe people in the vacinity. I was surprised that I was expected to take of my shoes/sneakers on entry to the premises, but flip-flops were provided for getting around inside. The room was quite adequate, but all space it utilised to the maximum degree, and being of a larger than normal size, I found it rather restrictive using the showers and toilets, both of which are individually lockable, but communal. All in all I would describe it as good value and perfectly adequate, but obviously the cost determines much of the status and conditions.
