I book with home away often with no issues at all, until I booked with this property owner.
I’m not even the one to write reviews bad or good but the way I was treated by this owner was just disgusted and weird.
I booked a 2 night stay, & when check in day arrived the owner had no idea that I had booked and was confused.. fair enough. Then proceeded to say they couldn’t host me because the building management wasn’t allowing any short-term rental stay due to Covid-19 which i totally understood.. then had told me through text to call home away & “ they could figure it out” and then blocked my number! I got my boyfriend to text him off his phone and he magically answered and said he didn’t block my number which he did.
Since the OWNER did not want to be a helping hand in issuing my refund which was already taken out of my account I had to call home away and they even told me that I have to contact the owner and he/she has to cancel the reservation on their end. The owner insisted that they didn’t see any reservation on their account for them to be able to cancel it, WHICH I THINK is FALSE, if the renter can see it on their end I’m sure the OWNER can see it too
Home away also tried calling the owner & he refused to answer the phone but instead texted me & said “ I’ll call you back in a second “ which he never did. It was an extremely stressful situation for me, mind you I was travelling from Windsor as well!
After my boyfriend texted him letting him know if he does not issue a refund he will be contacted by a lawyer on my behalf.. magically the reservation gets cancelled and my refund is initiated to me.
It took 3 weeks to receive my refund but I’m glad I received it. Now I’ll be very cautious with whom I book with.
If the owner was telling the truth about not seeing the reservation that is fine! But they blocked my number, did not gave the decency to call me and ignored me. Very unprofessional
