By day it's just another narrow alleyway common in Tokyo, but at night the street turns into a mini nightlife area for the salarymen of Tokyo. With numerous tiny #bar lining up, the nickname comes from the fact in the past so many drunk salarymen doing their "bussiness" there because there's no toilet anywhere in this alleyway. Today, regulation has been set in the area so it is a lot cleaner than before. The alleyway is very narrow and can only fit at maximum 2 people at a time so be mindful of your surrounding when visiting especially when there's many drunk people walking by from the bars. The bars are also very tiny and can only fit less than 10 people at a time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Rio! The room was very well sized for the area and super comfortable, and the staff was very nice and helpful. The location is also unbeatable - you’re just a few minutes walk from Kabukicho as well as Shinjuku and Okubo stations, which gives you easy access pretty much anywhere via the Yamanote Line. The 24h Don Quijote across the street is also helpful for anything you may have forgotten to pack. One thing to note - it’s not a quiet part of town, though this didn’t bother me at all. I actually really enjoy hearing the sounds of the city. Just something to keep in mind! Overall, would highly recommend Hotel Rio to anyone staying in Shinjuku!
