Good friendly stay worth a return trip.
The area was in a good location near a train stop. Plenty of shopping nearby. The people at the Aizuya Inn were very friendly and courteous and helped every way they could. The location was only a couple of stops from major shopping like Akihabara.
Thank you for your kind comment Troy. I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us. See you again next time!

Uncomfortable sleep, tiny room
the room was really small ( only 2 bunk bed that fit in the room) no space to put our luggage. I cannot even walk in the room. You need to pay 100yen to take a shower for 5 mins. Wouldn't recommend to a couple.
Thank you for your comment. Sorry you were not happy with your stay, but all the information on are the Expedia and our website. You chose the cheapest/smallest room and knew you had to pay for shower, so complaining about it afterward does not make much sense... I would have been happy to help you, had you mentioned it to us face to face...

Mispresented Hostel
1. the room was said to accomodate 2 fotons, but it didnt. only 1 fotons can fit.the remaining aisle after laying 1 foton is just 30cm. 2. dirty fotons. 3. broken japanese table. 4. didnt even have tissue inside the room. 5. noisy kid crying at night, when you supposed to be resting after a tiring day. 6. toilet for 2nd level where our room was dont have bidet, so we need to use the ground floor toilet everytime 7. worst is when I tried to be honest about my observation, the manager emailed me with insulting and outraging message. telling that i should be grateful with the free breakfast which i paid btw. and that I gave smile while im frustrated with the facitlities etc. and this makes me hypocrite. well in fact im just being respectful to the people around me. other travellers dont deserve to experience this kind of treatment and service. so im not recommending this Hostel. A big NO

Great place to stay for foreigners
The staff were really friendly, I enjoyed the decorations on the walls which were filled with Japanese style things as well as posters and game related things. The room itself has a television and DVD player and you are able to borrow game consoles if you wanted. The facilities are shared but more than enough, like 4 toilets per floor. There are three or four shower rooms in the whole building but that's more than most inns. It's 100 yen for 5 minutes in the shower but I find that more than enough. There are also laundry facilities too which is nice. I would actually say this is better than a regular hotel in terms of price and experience. Also I find that the free wifi in Japanese hotels tend to be weak but here it's great.

Had a nice stay. The area had a lot of combini and the place was only two stops away from Nippori station with a direct route to Narita airport and easy access elsewhere. The Inn had everything we needed and we could borrow bikes, international plugs and towels. The room was a bit drafty and the walls are thin. A lot of guests are used to other conditions and might complain about this, but the draft helped the air stay fresh and noise in the morning was a lot nicer to wake up to than an alarmclock. Though it was a bit cold the futons were really comfy and thick and the toilet seats were heated. We can easily recommend this place.

Good for budget travellers
The hotel is in very communicative place - close to subway and JR stations. There is a supermarket just across the street. Although there are no people in the area at night, it does not seem dangerous. There is a police office nearby. The hotel is at walking distance to Asakusa. The room includes minimal facilities - a small TV and AC, but the (double) futon was convenient. The WiFi worked well. There is no elevator and the stairs are very steep. It is not appropriate for people with more than a carry-on or a backpack. The owners provide breakfast - cornflakes and milk/juice. It was written on the hotel web site and in the room that rental phones are provided, but this turned on not to be correct. They provide a portable device for WiFi on the go. The shower is coin operated. You can get a towel for a small fee. There is a coin operated washing machine. A kitchen is available for the guests. You can get free tea all day long. Hotel staff is very helpful and speak English well. They are not available 24 hours a day, though.

It did the Job
I didn't really take much notice when I booked this hotel, so wa a little surprised to find our twin room having bunk beds, but hey we only slept in the place, didn't loitter, showers were great, and the overall decoration was lovely, little far out from town, but for the money perfect, one train line brought you all the way in, yep it was ok, and did the job fine.

The area is not very safe. Not suitable for solo traveler. Night time very quiet and dark. We witness a robber at our 2days nite there. A man rob a young lady's bag near the station. The inn is ok. Clean. Quality of servis appropiate. But room is very tiny.

You get what you pay for!
Great for backpackers just wanting to get their heads down after a day of sightseeing. Showers are really good, but you pay 100 yen. Toilets and rooms are clean, but the one long sink on each floor is ridiculously narrow, water goes everywhere. Breakfast is a waste of time unless you are into sugar coated cornflakes, and the common room has only limited space. Plus, while sitting on the floor at a low table might be part of the Japanese experience, it isn't exactly comfortable for most westerners, so some conventional seating would have been appreciated. The train station is close enough, and it wasn't too far to walk to some of the sights - Asakusa, even the Skytree and Edo-Tokyo Museum.

Clean, comfortable, suited our needs
We were travelling with a one year old and found this place to meet all our needs. It was clean, staff were helpful and friendly, it's close to transport and easy to find. Only complaint would be the lack of a block out blind in the room as it gets light very early and we have a young toddler but otherwise no complaints.

Great inn with friendly English-speaking staff
It was so refreshing to be in a place where people speak good English. Our room was alright. Not too small. There were no beds, only futon. There were toilets at the end of the corridor. And the coin-operated shower rooms were at the ground floor. The inn also allowed us to store our luggage for free until 6 pm after we checked out in the morning. I would definitely recommend staying in this inn.

Cheap hostel - perfect if on the go.
This hostel was cheap and a nice location to stay. It has everything you would like out of a hostel - adequate rooms (though a little small), clean nice bathrooms, wi fi, lots of tourist guides, a kitchnette and decent futons to sleep on. The only thing to beware of is the coin operated showers which we avoided in favour of visting onsen around the city.

Small, but clean little minshuku
Little bit tricky to find at first, but otherwise in an okay locale: two stops away from Nippori which gets you on the yamanote line. The room was clean but small (normal for Tokyo), the futon took a bit of getting used to, as did the coin operated showers. Breakfast (cereals and juice) was small but free, and the staff were always nice. The room was warm but be warned there's no sound insulation at all. For the price, this place is pretty good.

Excellent hotel for the price.
Everything a traveler needs is at the hotel. For 100 yen you can take a very good 5 minute shower. For a similar price you may wash and dry your clothes in a washing machine and dryer. Soap for the washing machine can be bought for a very low price at the front desk. The room was minuscule but functional, with a nice window to the outside. You could rent a phone for a low price from the front desk. Computer was provided, as well as free wifi. The subway, a 10 minute walk from the hotel, was an excellent line (Hibiya) for getting to the places we wanted to go, i.e., the fish market, the National Museum in Ueno Park, the Kabuki theatre. Subway maps and other brochures were provided at the front desk, as well as friendly advice for questions asked. There were separate toilets for men and women.

The only thing id wish it was better was the location, only for the sake of rests and bars not being close enough or around even. But the metro is very close, which helps you getting around a lot.

A dude who stayed at their dorm room for one night
+ The hostel is clean and staff are very nice; they provide free tea, coffee & quality cereals for breakfast. - They located in Minami-Senju, that is far from all places one might like to visit in Tokyo, except maybe Asakusa that is within walking distance (20-30 min); shower costs 100 JPY per 5 min.

Suitable for backpacker
I stay in shared room for four people for two nights. The location is quite far away from station when you pulling tired legs at night. (About 10mins) And This hostel have no lift so if you full of luggage, hum..... The manager is friendly and can speak English very well, also you can borrow many guidebooks at common area. But when I get to my bed, it full of dust that I must clean it myself, also you only have a locker that not safe to storage your stuff. However it's cheap enough to overcome those problem, and you have chance to meet people everywhere of world. ( I have a France photographer roommate and enjoyed for some interesting conversation before sleep) If you are looking for just a place to sleep as cheap as possible, here's your need.

One of the Cheapest & Friendliest hostels in Tokyo
If you're trying to avoid spending too much money, I recommend staying at the Aizuya lnn. I stayed at the hostel for 15 nights and was very satisfied. I had no issues whatsoever. I stayed in a single room, so I had to sleep on a mat; which was perfectly fine. The Showers and washing/drying machines are also available in the hostel. They require some yen so be prepared. In their lobby, they have two PCs that you can use for free & books you can read. Everything was positive at the hostel. If I ever visit Tokyo again, I will definitely come back to the Aizuya Inn.

Great place to stay with friends or families!
Hotel staff was incredibly friendly, for the money that I've spent, it was really worth the bucks. The lobby area was small and cosy, its a great place for travellers to hang out and social with each other. Overall, it was a warm and pleasant experience, I would definitely come back and stay here again~

A hostel and only a hostel.
Hotels.com would like you to think that this is a hotel but it is a hostel. You do get a private room with a small mat and blankets. The heater in the room did not work and it snowed the night we were there. It was very cold. You pay extra for towels and anything else you can think of. If you arrive after 10 pm you are charged 500¥ for each 1/2 hour you are late. So we had to pay 2500¥ extra because getting to this place from Narita or Haneda is at least two hours by train, subway, and taxi. If ANY other real hotel is available, for God's sake stay at a real hotel.

Great for a cheap hotel.
+) Nice place for meeting other travellers -) A little far from good eating areas. I lived in Tokyo previously so I wanted a dirt cheap hostel to stay at. It's ridiculously cheap, my room was probably cheaper than what it costs to rent a place and I got free internet and all the other amenities. I know the transporation system pretty well so I can get around Tokyo pretty easily. The 7 minute walk to the station is nothing and then Tokyo is easily accessible. For those who need to be in an area where they can walk out the door and immediately access shops and good restaurants it's probably not for you. Pay the price if that's what you want. The place does not shout luxury, but it was clean and had a fun kind of homemade creative styling that grew on me.

2 star hotel, 5 star quality.
Before booking my reservation, I was looking at customer reviews for different hotels, I was very happy with all the positive reviews I had read for Aizuya Inn so I took my chances with this one. I am glad I did, The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room, although small, was ideal for me (I went alone and bought not too many items) There are 3 floors to the hotel (4 if you include the roof, which you have access to, to relax or hang washing) The bottom floor has the men's and ladies showers, there are more than one for each gender, a vending machine where you can get drinks for 100 yen and a kitchen area with microwaves. The lounge allows you t sit with guests from the world and has a PC too, with free Wi-Fi. There are toilets and sinks on floor's 2 and 3 as well. You can also rent a wide range of items, I put down a 1000 yen deposit on a power converter, which was given back to me after I returned it. I can't say I tried the hotel food so I can't comment, I personally went to either one of the nearby shops for some sushi, chocolate and stuff, plus there is a Burger King and McDonalds at the nearby train station. Overall, I enjoyed my time, it was in a great location, easy to get from and to the airport and with some great hotspots like Akihabara and the Senso Ji Temple close by too, it's an easy recommendation.
The room size. Mattress was very comfortable.
Each toilet area was nicely decorated with game and anime posters.

A short trip to Tokyo
The inn was okay if you are on a low budget, but still want to be reasonably close to the city centre. Tokyo Skytree and old Edo are at a walking distance. The inn was very tidy and well-kept and the staff was helpful. Something to keep in mind is to always have a lot of 100 yen coins handy: the shower only accepts them (100 yen for 5 minutes) and if you want to have some more breakfast (in addition to the basic one) at a subsidised rate, you need to buy "coins" that cost 100 yen each in a machine. Overall the inn was a very viable option for cheap accomodation in Tokyo.
