The staff member at front isn't well in welcoming specially in evening time.. I arrived and someone came at Front desk after 20 minutes. No signage for "will be back soon" or any other help. Even the guy came and didn't welcome us in a professional way.. While checkout at early morning 4:00 am the girl was better in customer service than the evening guy..

We were travelling across Canada and staying one night in Thunder Bay which is one of most expensive cities for accommodations on our route. The Super 8 is a good value relative to the local accommodation market. The rooms are spacious and maintained well. A microwave would be beneficial.

Food left in room from previous clients stunk terribly. Bathroom sink didn’t drain had bugs Intoxicated people in the building out fromt all night. I have stayed here plenty of times, it used to be lovely. Now it’s an absolute dive!! The evening staff could care less.

This was a garbage hotel and a surprise given that Super 8 hotels are usually pretty good. The clerks on duty tried to scam me into paying again for my hotel room but backed off when shown proof of purchase having already been made. Clerks forgot to warn and there was no Caution sign on the room door warning of a 6 inch drop off on the other side of the door resulting in me stumbling and falling into a rough stucco wall an injuring myself. Breakfast was almost non existent and what there was looked like one would be risking food poisoning if one ate anything. This had to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.

Random people loitering in parking lot. That, and the man checking in ahead of me, caused me to become extremely anxious. I expressed my concerns to the check-in attendant and was assured that the motel and surrounding area were safe. Went up the stairs to my room (no elevator) and started reaching out to locals about where I was and, without exception, they all confirmed my concern for my safety, especially with my plans to walk to and from local businesses and the theater. Left the motel as soon as I could find a ride, after being informed that I would not be receiving a refund for either night of my reservation. I will be escalating this with corporate after I return home.

It was my 3rd stay, it was perfect every time, but this one it was noisy. I woke up twice because of loud voices in the hallway at 1:30 and 4 am Hope it's just a coincidence and it ll be quite next time

Most accommodations in Thunder Bay seem overpriced compared to the rest of Ontario. The Super 8 is a good value compared to other accommodations in this market. We have stayed here previously and would likely again. The breakfast which is included has many choices. The pet friendly rooms are ideal for us when travelling with our pet.

Sketchy place with a comfy bed
The outside door was kicked in and the hole was covered with a piece or cardboard taped over it. The wifi didn’t even work so I could’ve connect. The bed was comfy that’s the only good thing about staying there.

Thank you for the feedback and review. Unfortunately, we had someone kick in the door late at night. We are currently in the process of getting the whole door and frame fixed. This is not an "overnight process" the frame is damaged and needs to be fixed.

A Great Stay at a Reasonable Price
From Check In to Check Out we were impressed by the staff and our stay. At Check-in, a restaurant tip to Java Hut proved to be excellent. Our room was clean, comfortable with good lighting and many plugins for charging phones, etc. All appliances and hair dryer worked well. A Microwave would be helpful. Wifi worked well. Breakfast consistently had hard boiled eggs, a variety of juice, yoghurt, breads, muffins, cereal, waffle maker and good coffee. My husband who is gluten free was able to find good choices although he brought his own bread, and I who am lactose intolerant could find good choices made better by bringing my own milk. I really appreciated that hot water for tea and hot chocolate were always available to help warm us after a day outside. Will definitely return on our next trip to Thunder Bay.

The facilities are in pretty rough shape. Hotel is in desperate need of repairs. Cleaning could’ve been better, the shower tiles were broken and the shower had a very loud screeching noise when running.
