Heradsskolinn Historic Guesthouse

"The location and building were great and staff, mostly ex-pats from Poland were friendly and efficient. Our private room was very nice but the trash can had not been emptied and there were two almond nuts on the floor from previous tenants. Both men shower's soap dispensers were empty. There were no hostel cooking facilities for guests to use, only a kitchen with staff for evening meals and a very good breakfast that came with the room fee. We were in Iceland however there was no ICE! :( The kitchen and building ice making machine(s) were all not working due to electrical malfunction. We thought we were were booking a 'historic hotel' and found out it was a 'historic hotel HOSTEL'. No problem it was comfortable. No one told us but we discovered after leaving that within a short walk there was hot sauna bathing AND a traditional Icelandic dark bread to sample made by baking in lake-side bubbling volcanic hot water for 24-hours."

"Nice, we were in a family room so it was spacious because there was only two of us. Shower was nice with private bathroom. Didn't get a chance to try the spa tub we only stayed one night and it was a little walk from our room outsidebut it looked nice. Dinner was a pricey as all food in Iceland is but it was very good home cooked options."

"The positives - we had an amazingly room looking towards the lake and got to see the Northern Lights!!! Welcome drinks on check in was a great surprise! The staff were exceptionally friendly as well. The negatives - the hallways were looking a bit shabby and I did not find the bed comfortable. When we went to the pool, there were no towels. Dinner was the biggest disappointment. which we found average and overpriced. The ribeye was tough and you had to pay extra for a side of greens or carrots when we were already paying 9000 ISK for our main course. Breakfast should have been included as an option to add into the room rate like everywhere else. Not sure we would go back. It’s a remote location so there were no other food options close by."

"This property is new and clean. Easy to locate. However, Expedia did not send me the code to open the self check-in door. So, I need to call property manager directly. Since I am using Iceland travel SIM card, this is really inconvenience for me."

"Loved staying here. There are animals onsite. You can even eat dinner with a view of the cows. The onsite restaurant was good. Wouldn’t recommend paying for breakfast though."
