Avoid

Posted 24-Dec-2018 on Hotels
I stayed at the apartment and the only positive things were: location and free wifi. ‎ There were only dirt stained duvets and pillows provided, neither bed linens or towels were left in the apartment.  There is only 1 heater in the whole apartment, which barely works and the windows, door aren't insulated properly, no wonder some of the walls are mouldy in a few places. ‎The hot water doesn't work in the apartment. The apartment wasn't the cleanest, the dishes and mugs left for guests were dirty as well.  As for the 'free continental breakfast' I was told they only provide a couple of slices of toast at the main building, so I wouldn't bother.  I would definitely not recommend Caterina apartments!  ‎ ‎ ‎

Noisy, cold service, private bathroom not private

Posted 12-Nov-2018 on Hotels
Service felt cold, room with private bathroom was terrible as bathroom was out in public area. May as well have been in a dorm. Room was incredibly noisy because it was right on the main roadway and one of the windows facing the road is missing. Construction works are still going on as Nov 2018. I did read a review from Dec 2017 about the construction works, but I had assumed they would have finished. The works are noisy, dusty and make your stay just that much worse. And oh yeah, the wifi usually didn't work. But when it did, it was really slow. Really do not like this place.

The property is nice and cozy close to many touristic sites. The apartment is surrounded by many pubs and restaurants. The room is big and has a kitchenette where you can prepare a fast start of the day.

I did not get room on this address, but in the street close to it. The hotel itself is in reconstruction, full of dust, mud, bad smelling and noisy. My room was in narrow street, at night very noisy and it was not very clean. Breakfeasts are only in the hotel, so it was not really comfotable to go there every morning (coffe, bread, cheese and cornflakes). Wifi did not work at my room. But I could survive as it was short stay near the city centre for a reasonalbe price (I liked Budapest very much, but I will definitely not choose this hotel again.)

Affordable rooms downtown

Posted 13-Jun-2018 on Hotels
We were happy with this hostel/hotel: it is one of the affordable options in Budapest. The location is very good and a basic breakfast (toast, jam, cheese, cereal and coffee) is also included in the price. Things to know in advance: it’s on the 3rd floor of an old building, which means no elevator. We stayed in a two-room apartment where the other room was a dorm. We had our own bathroom, but it opened from the hallway. We got a key to keep it locked, but unlocking and locking the door was quite annoying at night. I would have appreciated knowing in advance that the bathroom does not open from the room. Despite what I have mentioned above, we would stay here again.
