"Ask it to desk for the VIP upgrades but was told none was available. Hotel is a nice four star, Show some age and could use a total remodel interior. Staff is excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable. Is breakfast is good, Is but the restaurants in general are pretty three star at best."

"Excellent reception staff here. Very friendly and accommodating…I asked for a quiet room and they took care of me. Beds are ultra comfortable , especially after a week of hardcore adventure travel. Great winding down !!!! I have been coming here for 25 years and it’s a great option for San Jose! "

"I recently stayed at the beautiful, Hilton Garden Inn, with friendly staff and convenient airport shuttle service. The direct connection to the mall made shopping and dining easy. However, the hotel isn’t within walking distance of local shops, which limits the chance to experience authentic Costa Rica. Overall, it’s a great choice for comfort and service, just be ready to use transportation for local culture."

Balmoral Hotel San José CR, Historic District

"I booked the Balmoral because it was in the historic district downtown, so I knew we'd be in the center of the city. I wanted to see the old section and we found the Museum of Costa Rica, which is housed in an old fort, right downtown. There was an restaurant sort of attached to the hotel which was very convenient and perfect for a nice dinner. Our room was very spacious, the bathroom had been remodeled and the was was hot - a must for us! The only thing missing was a washcloth, but I had packed one so we were good. the staff was very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Overall a great experience."

"Such a beautiful property - truly a hidden gem in the historic district. Reminded me so much of New Orleans. All the rooms are different and unique with such beautiful furniture and decor. The floor tile and ceilings are stunning. Staff and owner are very accomodating and gracious. I will definitely stay here again. "

"New to Costa Rica, this Delta hotel was perfect. The staff were kind and friendly. The bartender, Ian, served me a glass of wine three times the size I'd get in the states. The breakfast choices were too numerous to list. What a great find!"

"Staff makes this property great. It’s in a safe convenient area but not many restaurants nearby. Luckily breakfast is great. Alonso is the best waiter, very polite, attentive and informative. Raquel at the front desk is amazing. She always greeted me by name and was genuinely a very polite and helpful person. She always helped me with any questions I had. Great property with great staff. "

"Front desk people excellent, specially Natacha did a great job. Good restaurant, simple food but well presented, good security, not to far from downtown, but only reproach I can do, we be for the owner will be to do a face lifting to the entrance of its property, which is not very appealing, and some renovations inside the rooms, and fixtures, specifically plumbing difficult to have hot water!"
