"From Hilton Athens to A for Athens"
I transferred from the Hilton Athens to A for Athens (work budget to personal budget) and yes there was a big difference in grandeur and the facilities available. That said if going back to Athens I would choose to stay at A for Athens. The hotel was comfortable and had an excellant location in the heart of the city making it very easy as a single traveller to get out and about in foot. When I first checked in there was a problem with my room with water coming in from the building next door. I was immediately moved into a new room. The receptionist was very friendly and could not have been more helpful. The rooms were a good size and the beds comfortable. My room had great views of the Acropolis. The bar / restaurant on the 6th floor served excellent food and was a very popular meeting venue for locals. The advice to reserve a table for dinner was good advice. I really felt like this hotel gave me a flavour of Greece. There was a lift but it was very small, pretty much one person at a time. There was free WiFi but every time my phone screen lock activated I had to relig on. I would definitely go back here.

Athinas Street 29, Athens - Map
Two minute walk from metro, easy walking distance to all main sites (remember that most of sites are UP HILL.) Hotel staff very helpful - booking taxis, and good local knowledge etc. The best bit though was the roof garden with amazing views to the Acropolis and Parthenon, beautiful when light up at night and sipping a cocktail. Go for a meal in the Plaka area, small family restaurants and full of atmosphere. The hotel breakfast was very good value but one morning do as the locals do and get a pastry or bread ring and sit in Monastiraki Square with a Freddo Cappuccino just people watching. As for the Greek people 'Crisis, what crisis?'

"Excellent staff and hotel"
Should have been at least 4-5 stars. Rooms were clean, loved the wood floors instead of rugs. Incredible breakfast and free coffee, hot chocolate, tea and biscuits all day. Loved having coffee on the roof top. They even supply blankets at night to sit and watch the acropolis.

"Great hotel in a really lovely area"
This is a lovely small hotel with nice touches; bottles of water in the fridge, coffee and tea. The host is very thoughtful and the outside area is great. The location is great. Lots of bars and restaurants around the corner and all the sights are within walking a distance. It's a lively area but the room is very quiet. Great experience!

"Basic hotel, well located, but a bit run down"
It's a good budget option. Friendly staff, centrally located, and affordably priced. However, rooms are on the small side, beds are hard, and it is looking a bit run down. Still, not a bad option. While not terrible, the neighborhood is not the best. Then again, that pretty much describes most of Athens these days.

"clean, comfortable and well located"
I spent 4 days at the Arion. As a lone traveller I always look for well located hotels with everything in walking distance. Safety is also a consideration. Some previous reviews suggest this is an unsafe area but I always felt safe. Of course you always need to be careful and stick to the main roads at night. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with quite new bathrooms. The rooftop is an absolute bonus with great views. The breakfast is very good with lots of options. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything is within walking distance including a good selection of restaurants. I'd absoluetly stay here again and thought it was very good value for money.
